Light Room Classic Catalog

Issue: When I delete from the catalog in lightroom classic, it deletes the files from my external hard drive as well.

Why does this happen?

I am a photographer and just lost about 2,000+ photos.

It says that it should only delete from lightroom classic, but not from the attached device (in my case a hard drive).

I am just confused and frustrated for sure.

You have two options: Remove from the catalog or remove and delete. So which are you picking? One does the behavior intended; deletes the image.
