Lightroom 2.0 will not export to Photoshop CS3

OK,

So I downloaded and installed lightroom 2.0 this morning and things are not working well.

System: Macpro 2.8, 8 gb ram, os x 10.5.4, nikon d300 raw files

The problem...

It started with Lightroom not exporting any images to photoshop. Doesn't matter if I try to send 1 or 20, I get a spinning beach ball, then nothing. if photoshop is closed it will open it, but nothing gets loaded into it. Plain export, merge to panoramic, edit as smart object, nothing does anything.

Tried in both 32 and 64 bit modes, tried re-installing Lightroom 2.0 from scratch. still nothing. I sent a sample raw file into adobe and am waiting to hear back, but figured I'd see what everyone else thinks as well.

@ Jacqui Dervan and Kevin Tieskoetter

OK everythings clear now. Yes I moved the mouse over the Ghost 'Grossglockner' folder and it does indeed show a small lower case 'k' whilst the original is showing in upper case. Thanks for clearing that up and sorry for the delay - whilst you are sleeping I am awake and vice versa. :-(

@ Mario. Admire your cheek. Still - as they say, 'if you don't ask you don't get'. :-)

    Kevin,

Doing some testing on my Mac -- so far it appears that PSD/TIFF files created in a directory with a path that contains an ampersand or a dash are not imported into the LR library, whereas files in "plain-named" directories are imported.

I have the #2 problem, ghost folder. But I also found another different problem: while editing in Photoshop an image that is in a folder with spanish characters (i.e.: tilde in 200806_José), Photoshop opens a window "Open as ..."

(I do not know if I explain it well, sorry for my English).

As one of the LR 2.0 users facing the Edit In PS CS3 problem I am trying to understand the current understanding of this problem. There are many messages that point to a Ghost drive problem and an Photoshop 10.0 to 10.0.1 upgrade problem.

I did check the CS3 upgrade on my system and the upgrade was successful, at least according to Kevins criteria by checking the Help System info. After verifying that my CS3 upgrade was not the problems, I followed Kevins advice and created a brand new Test catalog and imported some pictures form a memory card. On that very small Test data base external PS editing works just fine.

I am running on a vanilla Vista 32 bit system with the images and LR Catalog residing on my system's C-drive. (I do not use any weird characters or external drives).

So, I wonder if the currently articulated problem descriptions in this forum apply to my system. I would very much appreciate if an Adobe representative could summarize Adobes current understanding and characterization of this problem.

    Thanks,

    Franz

What Jacqui mentions is right - the lowercase drive letter will only show itself in the tooltip that appears when you hover the mouse over the folder in the panel.

When you 'mouse over' the Grossglockner folder, does the full path display begin with an UPPER CASE K or lower case k?

If it displays a lower case k I think there is a fix for it as Kevin says.

I don't under stand this comment. My working files are stored on an internal drive name "D:(Data)" This appears in the main library as Data (D:). When the ghost appears, it also is shown as Data (D:).

I have archived files on other internal and external drives also in the same catalog. The same thing occurs...the ghost shows in a drive with an identical name and drive letter designation as the "correct drive"...

There is no change in the upper/lowercase appearance of this. Are you saying this is an internal problem where sometimes LR reads this drive letter as uppercase, and sometimes lowercase?

Can you illiminate on this a little?

    Thanks,
    Andrew

    No, this is not the case. I am on Windows and using an EHD and in my case the EHD drive letter and the Ghost for this drive are exactly the same i.e. BOTH in upper case. I posted you a screenshot in an earlier post but here it is again;

    http://community.dcmag.co.uk/photos/alan_inghams_gallery/images/851676/original.aspx

I've copied and pasted this from my earlier post:
I took one dng image out of the Grossglockner folder, right clicked and chose the option 'Edit in CS3'. The image, as per options set in Preferences opened in CS3 as a TIFF. Nothing was done to this image and from the Menu I chose 'Save As' choosing TIFF and back into the same Grossglockner folder. As you can see from the screenshot, a Ghost drive has been created containing the TIFF image.

Looking in Explorer, there is of course just the one Grossglockner folder containing both the original dng and tiff files .......
