Lightroom 2.0 will not export to Photoshop CS3

OK,

So I downloaded and installed lightroom 2.0 this morning and things are not working well.

System: Macpro 2.8, 8 gb ram, os x 10.5.4, nikon d300 raw files

The problem...

It started with Lightroom not exporting any images to photoshop. Doesn't matter if I try to send 1 or 20, I get a spinning beach ball, then nothing. if photoshop is closed it will open it, but nothing gets loaded into it. Plain export, merge to panoramic, edit as smart object, nothing does anything.

Tried in both 32 and 64 bit modes, tried re-installing Lightroom 2.0 from scratch. still nothing. I sent a sample raw file into adobe and am waiting to hear back, but figured I'd see what everyone else thinks as well.

    Hi Kevin,
I am having the ghost drive problem in Windows Vista 64bit.
    I have LR2 with PS CS3 10.0.1 and ACR 4.5.

Is there going to be a patch for the ghost drive problem (aka issue #2) ?

    Lightroom 2 round trip failing.

    *Using Vista home 32 bit
*I have the raw 4.5 download installed
*I can easily go from LR 2 to CS3 but the file will not round trip back to LR 2 when I hit save.
*To get file back to LR 2 I send file to the desktop and then import it into LR 2. Durable but not efficient.

I have LR 2 program on one hard drive.
The files are on another drive- both drives are internal drives.
Back ups are on external an drive.

    Any comments?

Where are the preferences you are talking about? What do I do? Just drag them to the trash?

Jürgen Ritter re: smart objects: Now, if I select Save, the SaveAs dialog box appears and I have to navigate to the correct folder, save it and synchronize the folder to get the image back in Lightroom. I don't think this is the intended way.

Ian: It isn't intended to work this way. The Save As dialog should not appear.

Me: I'm confused... because the LR2 manual says this:
"After making edits in Photoshop, you will be prompted to save any changes to the photo sent from Lightroom. Photos edited as Smart Objects in Photoshop are not automatically reimported into the Lightroom catalog."

I had the Edit In PS CS3 problem, and assumed that it applied only to folders imported since the installation of LR2, since it worked fine with other folders within the catalogue created in LR 1.4 which I had converted. Then I belatedly realised that the new folder names had apostrophes (they have very long names, so I could not see all of the name on screen) - removing these solved the problem - I can now edit in CS3, and Open as SmartObject works as well. Fortunately no ghost folders here either, so I am up and running - but I would prefer to be able to name my folders as I want them with any legal file name! I am running XP Pro SP2.

I'm missing a little bit something about the Open as Smart Object problem.

I looked with a resource editor in the bridgetalk.dll and there are some scripts for the interaction between Lightroom and Photoshop. In my understanding the Smart Object option should work like the other options and save the file as tiff into the original folder and inform Lightroom to include the file into the library.

Now, if I select Save, the SaveAs dialog box appears and I have to navigate to the correct folder, save it and synchronize the folder to get the image back in Lightroom.
I don't think this is the intended way.

It's problem #3. No ghost folder problem but I think it would also turn to problem #2, if it would save without interaction like the other options.
I found another thread about this problem, but unfortunately it didn't get very much attention so far.

Widows XP user here. Having ghost proplem also. Have files on "e" drive and when they are done editing they show in the ghost drive. ARRRR we need a fix!

Also files are only auto reimporting when editing from a collection if I just edit strait from the library I have to manually re import the files after they are edited.

    Kevin,

Yesterday you said you have a patch for the Ghost folder... Will we have to wait months for the next release ie 2.1 to get the patch or do you plan to release a patch as soon as it is fully tested ?

    Hi from Prague,
    Win XP Prof (Czech version) + SP2; PS CS3 (Czech version) + 10.0.1 + CR 4.5

    LR 1.4
    "Edit in Photoshop" works fine

    LR 2.0
    "Edit in Photoshop" didn't worked;
than I changed a name of folder "Obrázky" to "Obrazky" and it started to work. But if I'll close a picture in PS, there will be an error window
    http://www.tompalenik.cz/img/chybová hláka Edit in.jpg
    ... photoshop 10 is undefined

    "Open as a smart object"
folder "Obrázky" - didn't work; folder "Obrazky" works fine

next only for renamed folder "Obrazky":
    "Merge to panorama"
works but when I want to close the picture in PS, an error window apears

    "Merge to HDR"
start OK; than on the 8th step in History an error window apears; if I click ok it will normaly continue. When I want to close rendered picture, the error window apears again.

    "Open as layers"
did nothing; if the PS i closed this will the PS start but then also will no action and no result

At the end I tried the picture folder (in Czech picture=obrázek) renamed back to "Obrázky" and it started worked bad:
e.g. "Open as a smart object": only opens a window in PS "Open as"

So the result is that Czech special charecters in folder name (the whole adress) could make some problems. But still stay here some errors windows as shown and "Open as layers" didn't work at all.
