Lightroom 2.0 will not export to Photoshop CS3

OK,

So I downloaded and installed lightroom 2.0 this morning and things are not working well.

System: Macpro 2.8, 8 gb ram, os x 10.5.4, nikon d300 raw files

The problem...

It started with Lightroom not exporting any images to photoshop. Doesn't matter if I try to send 1 or 20, I get a spinning beach ball, then nothing. if photoshop is closed it will open it, but nothing gets loaded into it. Plain export, merge to panoramic, edit as smart object, nothing does anything.

Tried in both 32 and 64 bit modes, tried re-installing Lightroom 2.0 from scratch. still nothing. I sent a sample raw file into adobe and am waiting to hear back, but figured I'd see what everyone else thinks as well.

LR 2 BUG? not saving to jpeg when using adjustment tool

    ok this is my workflow
    process raw file in LR2
    export to 16bit tiff

then to send to my photo libary i have an action set up in photoshop CS2

    image mode - 8bit
    fit image 1200
    save as jpeg
    close

this works well and i use it nearly every day
however today I had problems with the action

it would stop on certain photos and say

'couldnt complete your request because of a program error'

when I came to look at which photos were causing the problem i found out that

ALL photos that wouldnt save to jpeg
were photos I had used the ADJUSTMENT TOOL on in lr2

    any ideas why this happens/

It would appear that a great many of us (myself included) are experiencing the very same problems in getting Lightroom 2 to edit in Photoshop...........irrespective of the options, it simply will not work.

Photoshop will actually open but it is greyed out except for an error message "could not import the clipboard because of a program error"

There is also a corresponding message in Lightroom that"The file could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop could not be launched"

I am using Windows XP Pro and CS£ Extended. Lightroom 1.4 is still installed because I am trialing Lightroom 2.

Surely we cannot all be going crazy.......it must be a "Bug"?

Yes, I have. I started with LR2, installed PS3, and everything worked fine. My next step was to update PS3 to 10.0.1. LR2 then complained about needing Camera RAW 4.5 (as I'm working with Canon RAW files). So, I installed Camera RAW 4.5. It was at that point, it stopped compaining about not having CR4.5, but it wouldn't open the raw files either. It just ran CS3, but no openning of the file I wanted to edit.

It seems that this is a combination of a CS3 problem as well as a Lightroom 2 problem...has anyone tried installing LR2 FIRST, on a clean install, and THEN installing CS3? Just curious.

To those still stuck on problem #1 I'd suggest doing some manual deletion of files *after* the uninstall of CS3. In my experience there's always some files and/or folders left sitting on the drive.
So that'd be the Photoshop CS3 folder from ...\Program Files\Adobe and anything to do with CS3 or Camera Raw from ...\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe
I'd also delete out all your temporary files, remember they get stuffed in all sorts of places on most Windows systems, not sure about Vista.

Just keep in mind that you'd need to back up any settings files and third party plugins. In fact, if you're not 100% sure about deleting stuff then you can just move the entire PS CS3 folder or rename it where it is. That way you can always get your files back.
Has anyone tried doing stuff in Windows Safe Mode? Just a thought.

Yes. My scripting is 10.0.1. When my version was at 10.0 and scripting was at 10.0, everything worked fine. When I updated to 10.0.1, it told me I needed Camera RAW 4.5 before it would open a file in CS3. Once I updated to 4.5, it would run CS3, and then fail to open the image file.

    So... currently, I have
    CS3 10.0.1
    Scripting 10.0.1
    Camera RAW 4.5

It happens the same way on my Vista 32-bit machine, and on my Vista 64-bit machine. I can recreate this 100% of the time on either machine.

Brent, have you checked System Info from the Help menu in Photoshop to see what version your Scripting Component is?

    Kevin,

Okay...Here is where I'm at with the LR2 on Vista and CS3 not opening the image...

    1) I uninstalled 10.0.1 completely
    2) reinstalled 10.0 - LR2 opens file just fine in CS3
    3) patched 10.0.1 - LR2 complains about Camera Raw 4.5 not being present.
    4) Added camera RAW 4.5 - now LR2 runs CS3, but will not open the image.

I've gone through this twice with the same results.

Confirm that when the catalogue and corresponding pictures are on C drive, ghost drive does not occur.

Other than to test, it is not reasonable to move thousands of pictures to small C drive.

    XP-64 here.

Not for me. Even when on C I get the ghost files.
