Since updating throughout Creative Cloud" a couple of hours ago, I get "Develop Module Disabled, please renew your membership" with Lightroom 5.5 while all other programmes work fine. My membership is up to date and paid in advance! What do I do?

Hello All,

If you are having this issue still please try the following troubleshooting steps.

Solution 1: Sign out of Lightroom 5.5 and then sign back in with your Adobe ID.

Solution 2:

Set permission to SLStore & SLCache Folder ::

NOTE: Perform this procedure two times, once each for the SLCache and the SLStore folders.

Mac:

  • Use the Finder to navigate to Library/Application Support/Adobe/SLStore or Library/Application Support/Adobe/SLStore.
  • Control-click the folder and choose Get Info.
  • Expand the Sharing & Permissions section.
  • Click the lock icon in the lower-right corner. Enter your administrator user name and password when prompted, and then click OK.
  • Set permissions:

System: read/write

Admin: read/write

Everyone: read/write

  • Click the Gear icon, and select Apply to Enclosed Item. Close the Get Info dialog box.

Win 7/ Win 8:

SLStore :: ProgramData\Adobe\SLStore
SLCache::

Win 32 bit: Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\SLCache\

Win 64 bit: Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\SLCache\

  • In File Explorer, right-click the SLCache or the SLStore folder and choose Properties.
  • Click the Security tab and set permissions:

Administrators: Full Control

Power Users: Everything but Full Control and Special

System: Full Control

Users: Read and Special

  • Click Advanced, and, if asked, accept the User Account Control (UAC)elevation prompt.
  • Click the Owner tab, select Administrators, and click Edit.
  • Select Replace Owner on Subcontainers and Objects. Click Apply, and then click OK.
  • Click the Permissions tab and click Change Permissions.
  • Select Replace all Child Object Permissions with Inheritable Permissions from this Object. Click OK, and then click Yes.
  • Click OK, and then click OK again in the Windows Security dialog box. Click OK to close the Advanced Security Settings dialog box.

Suggestion 2: Rename the SLCache folder and re-launch Lightroom 5.5

I'm on Windows 7, I got to the step "Click the Owner tab, select Administrators, and click Edit.", but the only user showing is my own account,n so I cannot proceed further on this step (this is for SLStore).  All the permissions were as in the post already.

In SLCache, user/special permissions are not set, but I cannot edit them, the box is greyed out.

I have tried the rename as in suggestion 2, and on trying to run lightroom I get "configuration error"  "please uninstall and reinstall the product" "error 16"

I then found the info here: Doesn't launch after 5.5 update | "Develop module is disabled" and noticed it said to delete the files from slcache, not rename the folder, so I have tried that and it is (for now) working.

Honestly this problem has been going on for month,

how on earth can a huge company like adobe having their customers pay every MONTH

for something like that!!!!!

Lightroom from the Adobe Manager has always had lots of problems

WHY cant it be sorted out once and for all???

How many 100s or 1000s of people are getting paid by us to work on those software

and even installing them is a problem!!!

As you can tell i am def not a happy customer specially having now

to pay such amount of money FOR EVER!!!

Just lost 90 minutes of my life trying to get Lightroom to work. Using a Mac Pro with latest software update. First verified for myself that my payments are up to date. Eventually found this thread via search. Tried solution 1) to sign out/sign in, tried solution 2) setting read/write prefs on 2 folders. 3) Tried deleting the app and redownloaded through CC. 4) Tried restarting my Mac and various combinations of signing in and out of CC. Eventually found download site and downloaded which seems to be working. At this time I'm a very annoyed customer.

I've had to empty the slcache etc folders on my OSX system repeatedly. The develop module works for a while then seems to drop out for no specific cause.

Neither solution has fixed the issue for me unfortunately.

After many log in / outs and restarts it has just worked … For how long I do not know.

When will this be fixed by Adobe? it's now a month on, and still have to sign out of my creative cloud account, sign back in and then restart lightrooom, sign in again.....just to access the develop module.

For a service that costs £50 a month, this should have been fixed by an update by now.

I have a Mac, renaming SLCache cured this problem.

I had the same issue as well. Suggestion 2 worked for me but I wonder if there are any negative effects caused by renaming the folder?
