Lightroom: 500px plugin unsupported and no longer works with "Classic" at all

As bad as the 500px plugin was, it is now completely unsupported and will not install on Classic 7.1. Is there any hope? This was an important workflow for me. Among all the other new problems like a completely useless import, this is near the top of the list.

I sort of made the switch to Flickr Pro, still a work in progress and a fair share of problems along the way. I can't get a proper sync with existing albums and have had to redo some of them (using Jeffrey's plug-in). Not fun but I don't have a ton invested in Flickr yet. We also lost facebook publishing. And the "unofficial" LR/Instagram has been usable for a one-way, non-editable trip.

Timing is everything.  For years I have tossed around the idea of getting more involved with 500px.  Each and every time I get close I find out one more thing 500px has done to shoot themselves in the foot... or, a simple little thing that is a huge help to photographers, they can't seem to manage, maintain or figure out.  They are one of the most perplexing online photo services I've encountered in 25 years of doing this stuff.  They never stop putting out press and online statements about their commitments and everything they are doing to build 500px.  Then, they turn right around and their actions say the exact opposite.  Well, looks like it's back to the Flickr Pro account.

Bridge and Photoshop - you are joking ?!
Looks like 500px will be off my websites to use ...

yup. Not sure if that's a time based thing, or if you don't use it for a while. Good luck.

That's good to know. I still have the plugin installed and it's "working" (it's buggy AF, but once you know what the bugs are they're possible to workaround). I guess that means I'll have to retire the plugin I ever need to reinstall Lightroom, or the authorization expires.

Today I was able to install the plug-in. However, when you try to login, it goes to an authorization page and if you click on Authorize, you get a 404 "Page not found". I have already cancelled my renewal. Looking at Flickr again.

Totally agree - but sadly I'm afraid I have never EVER yet seen an example where cross product inter-operability issues resulted in getting Adobe product managers to take a community-centric or even a customer-centric approach.

While I fully understand that Adobe expects vendors to write and maintain plugins related to their service, it also reflects poorly on Adobe when their professional photo editing product doesn't work with one of the most popular professional photo publishing services.

I'd really like to see 500px resolve this issue. In absence of that, however, it'd be hugely valuable to their customers if Adobe investigated the issue. I'd like to imagine that if Adobe reached out to 500px, their respective engineers could figure out the problems. (I am assuming that 500px discontinued support due to ongoing problems that they were unable to resolve.)

For me, this isn't just about the convenience of publishing directly from Lightroom. It's also about being able to track, in Lightroom, what has and has not been published, and what needs to be updated based on changes to the metadata. Without this, it's quite likely that my metadata in Lightroom and 500px will become out-of-sync, as opposed to needing to update e.g. tags in two places.

I too will discontinue my subscription to 500px if they don't have a new plugin soon.

And thanks for all you do for the LR community, your highness 🙂
