Lightroom CC won't import images

I just upgraded to lightroom CC from lightroom 5 and it won't import my images.  It shows a preview of them, but when I click import is says "importing images" but it never does and just sits like that.  Any ideas?  Thanks in advance.

This Link is for video files. The question is for importing images. Why can’t I get help? why is it so difficult to fix this bug or even put a support phone number?

Hi Samantha,

Your post is at the end of a very old and long thread. You may get answers you need if you start a new post question and include all details about your system. (What Lightroom version number? OS? details of 'Import' problem)

Regards. My System: Windows-11, Lightroom-Classic 15.1.1, Photoshop 27.3.1, ACR 18.1.1, Lightroom 9.0, Lr-iOS 10.4.0, Bridge 16.0.2 .

LIghtroom cc stopped importing images in the middle of a big project.

When I click IMPORT LR looks at the source and sees no photos.  I know that the photos on the sources are not duplicates.

Have read many threads, tried many things. None work.

- Copied images from camera SD Card to hard disk.

- renamed files thinking it might be a file naming problem.

- Shot half dozen new shots using Nikon 3400, then plugged card into card reader.

- unplugged all USB connections.

- Created new (empty) catalog and tried again.

- Optimized library.

- Restared computer.

System: Dell 7440, 8G, two SSD disks, Windows 10, Running Lightroom CC. Images are jpegs.

It's 1 AM and I've got a project due. Any help appreciated.

Did I mention its Lightroom CC, photographer package.

And all updates as of June 7 2017 are installed on both Lightroom CC and Windows 10.

Not sure I can help, but have you tried this procedure-

1. Start Lightroom

2. Open the Import dialog

3. In the source folder tree, Select the folder on the hard disk- the folder where you "copied from camera SD card to hard disk."

4. Choose the "ADD" option  (above the thumbnail window)

5. Click [Import]

LIghtroom cc stopped importing images in the middle of a big project.

Did you get any error messages?

Did some of the images import into the Library?

the source and sees no photos.

Was this before or after you tried to import the first time?

Is that "no photos" whatsoever in the preview grid, or are they greyed out?

Why does not it import ??

Commonly greyed-out thumbnails indicates that Lightroom thinks these photos have already been imported into the catalog.

Note the name of one of these photos, then exit the import, and search the Lightroom library for that photo. You can do it visually with "All Photographs" (Catalog panel) visible, or use the Filter bar to filter for the filename.

so anyway

this issue apparently has been going on for YEARS  and adobe still has not solved it to anybody's satisfaction

so, after having bought an external card reader, and now I can upload the picture into lightroom again, and uploading the cellphone pics onto creative cloud first, and then into lightroom

I AM BEYOND frustrated that ADOBE plays these games with the photo community

the problem is as old as it could be, the solution is as complicated and cumbersome as going back a decade

but the money we pay is today's value

so PLEASE and once for all, get this done for all

I called adobe support and they remoted into my machine and fixed it for me. Should've recorded what he did... so if you have an active CC subscription I believe support is included.

did that, called support was on the phone for 4 hrs ......

got nowhere

that was a real great experience, so then I went onto my own and got a card reader

what is frustrating though is that this is a  problem that has been going on for soooooo long - like eight internet pages long and years

and when you speak to any of the adobe help - they do not acknowledge that they have ever heard anything about it

I fount the problem on my iMac and MacBook! I used to connect to the NAS via AFP. Since I changed the connection to SMB all the problems are gone! Seems that the AFP is faulty.

Are you guys also making the upload to a NAS? I just found out that the Lightroom folder disappears after approx. 3 min when Lightroom is started. Sometimes the Lightroom folder shows up for a second and disappears again. This phenomena starts only after I opened Lightroom. The other files appear all the time. Logged in to the NAS the folder is there but the connection seems to be lost via finder.

For me currently imported, but not showed total images count in parent dirs:

Also, when I try to sync folder (Photos Cloud), I see import dialog with 688 new photos (total for this folder and subfolders), but synchronize do not add anything new.

I cant import any DNG files on the most current Lightroom.

I wished Apple never quite Aperture! Lightroom is very unstable.

Mine was working fine until I updated to 2015.5! Thought it was my PC problem and have been trying ways, including un-install, wiping the LR folder and reinstall, wasted so much time and nothing worked. Adobe! please be responsible, every month you are collecting our money and you just hide somewhere, leaving us all dangling with this unnecessary problem, not, if you have made sure you have done proper testing before releasing the update.

I have the same problem, have tried all the suggestions in this post.  Is anyone from Adobe actually going to investigate this and provide a solution.
