Lightroom CC won't import images

I just upgraded to lightroom CC from lightroom 5 and it won't import my images.  It shows a preview of them, but when I click import is says "importing images" but it never does and just sits like that.  Any ideas?  Thanks in advance.

Hello there,

I believe I have the same issue.

I have the latest version of Adobe Lightroom CC

I am using MacBook Air with the following configuration:

When I click Import I cannot see any pictures from anywhere.

It doesnt matter if it is external/internal drive or sd card from my cameras.

I already searched for XMP and MOV files and there are any in the selected folder.

Tried with a new catalog - not working

Tried with uninstalling/installing (keeping settings) - not working

Rebooting the system - not working

Unchecked "Dont import suspected duplicates" - not working

I am on a hurry to process and deliver some pictures so any suggestions will be highly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Regards

Try this:

I was having problems with video, that was causing my import issues. By moving video files before the import it worked.

This fixed the video issue. Not sure if it will resolve other issues in the the thread!

Error "Sequencer defunct" when using video file related functions

Good luck!

Same issue with multiple computers at the school I teach at.

It was .MOV files in my folder - removed them and all worked. Adobe need to sort this bug out.

It has been sorted in LR 2015.4 update.

I'm having the same problem - even from different cameras with different SD cards. Here's the message I get.

When you want to import... GO TO  "File"..."Import photos and videos"... BEFORE you pick a folder...look to the right and go to file handling....  UNCHECK  Don't Import Suspected Duplicates.

Then pick the folder or file you want to import.

Having the same issue (Mac, El Capitan, LRCC). Tried all the fixes. Sometimes works when I move the RAWs to a temp folder and import from my hard drive after a restart, sometimes pulls them from a card, but I spent 2 hours trying to move 45 photos. It is inconsistent. Also-I have to Force Quit LR every time I do a restart. Boo Lightroom. I'm done. I am downloading CaptureOne, tonight.

The same issue would mean you are trying to import a still file that is in the same folder as a video file. The video could also be in a subfolder of the folder with your still images. If you are having that problem the fix is either don't do that or patch the files that as Adobe posted. If that is not working for you then you are having a different problem. Can you double check and explain your whole situation a bit better?

Same NEW problem for me too, hangs at 45% of an import -- never happened to me before - I think it was with this newest CC update, going to reinstall and see if it fixes anything

It happens in v6.3 or whatever that correlates to in the CC version.

Pretty sure the solution to this problem, if not a permissions issue as some have found to be a solution, is to make sure that you don't have any video files in a folder with your stills or in a subfolder. If there is a video file in the same folder, or a subfolder, as your still images then the import will fail and when you try to quit the program will hang. Move the video file and somewhere else and your import will work just fine and you will be able to exit without issue. I found this worked for me using OSX 10.10.5 and LR 6.3. Nothing I did was able to change it and I was also unable to actually import a video file. If you've got a video file on a card you are trying to import and you use the devices section of the import dialog, so that the video file shows up on the import, then it will fail. If you instead navigate to a folder with no videos using the files section you will be able to import directly from your card.

Yup. I had to do the same workaround to get it to import and not hang. Pretty pathetic IMO. I just dump all images/videos to a folder specifically for a particular camera. And why shouldn't I be able to? I don't import from the SD card but obviously this should be an option too. Apparently it isn't if there are any videos. Obviously there should be automatic filtering going on to avoid such a ridiculous situation as failure to import and hanging. At the very least there should be user-settable filters. Adobe devs are becoming increasingly incompetent and support is non-existent. This is already the 3rd rev of this app.

Lightroom is supposed to handle video files. It should work without any filtering. Anything less than the ability import and work with video, as designed, is a failure. It's a pretty big failure too so yes, I'd say it's a bit pathetic.

I am having the same issue. OBVIOUSLY this is a problem that affects many users. Come on Adobe, SAY SOMETHING!

And how can we file a bug report on this?

I had a long chat with Adobe last night and the only solution was to uninstall Lightroom, go and reload Lightroom 6 and the update to 6.1.1 That fixed everything. So does this mean I can never update and I never have to pay again? Kidding.

I read through this and other forum threads and the downgrading "solution" posted by chrisb68637013 (uninstall Lightroom, reinstall Lightroom 6.0 and update not higher than than to version 6.1) worked for me. I use Lightroom on a Windows 10 machine where importing (add to library at current location) both folders including and excluding videos would simply stall. In my case I could cancel the import, without the computer freezing up, but the photos/videos stopped importing and nothing else I tried with version 6.3 would complete the job. Hopefully this issue gets fixed in version 6.4 but for now I stick to 6.1. I suggest you give it a try, my library has a large number of photos and videos (.mp4, .mov, .avi) which import flawlessly and smoothly in version 6.1. I refuse to mess around with files in my folders (e.g. take out videos) and I don't think doing so will per se fix the issue anyway, at least not for me.

Ps. I signed up to this forum to share that the downgrading "solution" by chrisb68637013 works for me as well. Thanks mate!
