P: LrC 15.4 is temporarily unavailable

I cannot update LR to a version which I have on m laptop. Laptop has 15.4, home computer has 15.3.1 and Creative Could is not capable to find the V15.4 and to update my main version. Thus a catalog exported with photography on the road cannot be imported to the main workstation.

The 15.4 update has been withdrawn by Adobe, pending an urgent fix for a data-loss bug that shipped with that update. See this extract from the Lightroom Queen’s web-site:

    Hi everyone,

I am from Ukraine. I have a problem with updating Lightroom Classic. Because of this I cannot open a catalog sent by my client (created in 15.4). I get the classic error: “catalog is too new for this version of Lightroom”. The new version 15.4 was released on June 18, 2026 (as announced in the community), but it still doesn't appear in my Creative Cloud app.

    • In the Updates tab — no 15.4 update is offered.
    • In All Apps → Lightroom Classic → three dots → Other Versions — only up to 15.3.1 is available.
    • I already tried: full sign out/in, restarting Creative Cloud, clearing cache, reinstalling the app — nothing helps.

    System info:

    • Lightroom Classic: 15.3.1
    • OS: macOS Tahoe 26.5.1
    • MacBook

The update was released more than 2 days ago. Is this a rollout delay? When can I expect 15.4 to appear in my Creative Cloud?

    Thanks in advance! #15.4 #update

Adobe pulled the update because of a serious bug that could cause data loss.

(next time please post a question about Lightroom Classic in the Lightroom Classic forum, not here)

Lightroom Classic most recent update, 15.4 is not available to me when I try to update to latest version.  When I click on updates, it show that the latest is 15.31.

Thanks. Of course problems can happen, what is wrong is the cloak and dagger. I was even contacted by support, someone took “control over my workstation” and than basically said “do not worry, it is a backend problem, it will be solved soon.”  So your own tech was not aware what is causing the issue. And consequently he could not explain what caused the issue. He also could not tell me how to “downgrade” LR back 15.3.1 so that I can import the catalog to my the workstation.

Not so much cloak and dagger and more a delay in communication.  This all happened very quickly. I knew what was happening because I reported the bug, but it will have taken time to get that information through to all of the support staff, and I bet your conversation with support fell into that gap between the decision being made and everyone being notified. They’ll be pulling out all the stops to get 15.4.1 out the door, so I don’t think you’ll be waiting too long, but is there anything we can do to help you in the meantime?

Thanks you, I am fine. I am simply working on my travel laptop. When the situation will be resolved, I will “export directories as a catalog” to a NAS drive, and than merge this catalog with the main collection.

We are investigating a reported issue with the new duplicate deletion feature in Lightroom Classic. If you've already updated to the latest version, we recommend not using the "remove duplicates" action until we can confirm and resolve any issues.

Is there a way to downgrade my catalog as I can’t access it as it was upgraded to 15.4 already.

I’m afraid there isn’t a way to downgrade a catalog, other than restoring the pre-upgrade catalog.

If the catalog already upgraded to 15.4, then you’ve already got it downloaded, surely? Or perhaps it downloaded on another machine? Which operating system do you use? I heard of one macOS user copying the 15.4 app from their laptop to their desktop, although I can’t be sure how safe that is.

I wouldn’t expect it to take long before 15.4 is available again, likely as an urgent 15.4.1 release. They’ll be pulling out all the stops to get this sorted asap.

I just upgraded to 15.4 before reinstalling my computer. Then after install only got 15.3.1 as an option. Stuck for now, thankfully not life threatening...just annoying. Will just keep checking for updates. Thanks for your reply.

I believe the 15.4 download has been temporarily pulled due to discovery of a bug that could result in data loss. They’re working to get a fix out ASAP, but better to make it unavailable for a short time than for someone to lose precious original photos.
