Question

Problem renaming/moving folders

Editing folder names is a constant challenge.

Is Adobe ever going to address this?  It's not a permission issue as it eventually works (sometimes restarting Lr, sometimes waiting a few hours, nothing consistent).

It's a huge inconvenience and renaming all the folders in Explorer, relinking them, etc., is a huge waste of time.

Is there any actual solution to this yet?

Address what? Describe the problem in detail. State what software you are using and the version NUMBER (we need the version NUMBER and not words like "latest")

What the subject stated - renaming/moving folders.  I added that to the body.

I didn't go into great detail because there are sooooo many existing complaints about this.  I was simply hoping for any update.

Seemingly randomly, I will get the infamous "The folder xxxxxx could not be renamed or moved."

I've gone through numerous threads and from what I can find, there is no solution at this time.  Please correct me if I am mistaken.

"there are sooooo many existing complaints about this"

"The folder xxxxxx could not be renamed or moved."

Searching back four years for that error message with both the forum search and Google search, I found three threads with posts from five people:

3/30/24, 3 people, 1 storing photos on a USB external drive, the other 2 don't say

Most LR error messages like this one can be issued due to many different causes.  Your particular problem could be completely unrelated to these other five people, or you could be tripping over the same issue as one or more of them.

With so few people reporting the error message in the past four years, Adobe will most likely not pay attention unless they can reproduce the problem on their own computers.

As a next step, I recommend doing the LR menu command Help > System Info and copy/pasting the entire contents here so we can see exactly which versions of hardware and software LR thinks you're running and important LR options that are set.
