Series of corrupt catalogs

I need to process a photo for an exhibition I shot last April. I wanted to go back to the original file, so I tried to open the catalog it would be on, got a "corrupt" and "repairing" notification, and then it failed due to an error. I tried the backup—the same thing. I then tried multiple catalogs from the same time period dating back to 2019. The same thing happened to them all. This doesn't destroy me, but it will cost me time. It is very discouraging.

Where are these working catalogs located?

  • Internal hard drive, or External hard drive (proper)
  • NAS (bad)
  • Network Share (bad)
  • Cloud (bad)

Repeated corruption of catalog is almost certainly due to a failing hard disk. COnsider as a short term solution moving the catalog file to a different disk. Long term you ought to replace the disk.

Try resetting the preferences of Lightroom Classic:  How to reset Lightroom Classic preferences (adobe.com)

It's recommended to backup your preferences before you reset the preferences to the default settings:

If this doesn't help take a look here: Gelöst: Corrupted catalog - Adobe Community - 9977195 and see if it helps.
