Updated to LR Classic v15.0 and program is now extremely slow.

I skipped the 15.0 and used 14.5.1 to finish all important work on both of my Mac computers. When 15.0.1 update came out I installed it on the machine that suffered the most. The problem persisted. 
the performance got better after I disabled some plugins or removed most of the unused ones from the system: adobe plugins can be found in adobe cloud app amd inside Lightroom plugin manager. 
I also played with the raw and video cash sizes. Restated the computer. And it got much better on 15.0.1

I am beyond frustrated. After trying every single possible fix recommended in this thread by several experts, the problem persists. LRC V15 is unuseable and unpredictable. Some times it works fine for a few minutes, then it becomes slow and unresponsive. Other times the problem occurs almost from the beginning. The Activity Monitor (macOS) shows LRC is using close to 200% of the CPU!

I am beginning to thing that the culprit is the Culling feature, even though I have it turned off. Somehow LRC must be sneakily culling thousands of photos at the same time I'm trying to do other things. I dont sync my photos to the cloud either, so I don't know what else LRC could be doing in the background that uses so much CPU and brings thing to a crawl. I wish Adobe did something about it!

Could you please try purging the Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) cache and restarting your machine? This often helps improve performance.

To purge the cache:

1. Navigate to the following folder:
   C:\Users\<your-username>\AppData\Local\Adobe\CameraRaw
2. Delete the entire CameraRaw folder.

Additionally, please check your Windows Power Mode settings:

• Go to System → Power & Battery
• Under Power Mode, ensure it is set to Best Performance

Let us know if these steps help resolve the issue or if you continue to experience problems.

I have much the same issue, though it isn't as noticeable in develop module.  However, the simple act of moving a 20-image folder from one spot to the other took ~10 minutes.

Same here. In Lightroom Classic’s Develop module, switching images is really slow—it drags the whole editing process down by at least 3×. Specs: 128 GB RAM, M3 Max MacBook Pro.

Add me to the list of very unhappy LRC v15 users. I am experiencing the extreme lagginess reported by others: anything I try to do takes more than 20 seconds to actually happen, be it scrolling in the library, selecting a different file, opening a menu from the top bar, it does not matter, everything is affected.  Interestingly, when I relaunch the program it runs fine (normal speed) but after a while the lag reappears.

I have done all the suggested fixes to no avail:

Deleted preferences (by the way, the preferences file in MacOS is supposed to be in 

• Lightroom Classic: /Users/[username]/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.LightroomClassicCC7.plist

but there is no such file in my system. I had to recreate my preferences manually after I ascertained that deleting them by using the Shift+Option to launch did not solve the problem.

Uninstalled/installed LRC

Unchecked the culling options on the Catalog metadata panel

Created a new catalog and imported the old one into it. Question: when LRC v15 is installed, it creates a new catalog, what name does it give it? In my case it kept the same name.

I really ope someone can find the cause for this problem! It is making LRC unusable for me.

Please be more specific. What do you mean with "extremly slow" and "unusable"?

Unfortunately you haven't given us any detailed description about your problem and no information about your system. Therefore, all proposed solutions are a little bit like as an look into the crystal ball.

Please provide a copy of your 'System Info'. This can be get from the Photoshop menu item Help > System Info. There's a copy button in the System Info dialog. Press this button and paste the info into your next forum post.

Try to reset the Lightroom preferences.

It's recommended to backup your preferences before you reset the preferences to the default settings:

It's also possible that there's an issue with your catalog. Hold the Ctrl-Key while starting LrC. This opens a catalog selection dialog.

First select the appropriate recent catalog and let it check it – note the checkmark "Test integrity of this catalog" to check its integrity. If that doesn't help, try to create a new one and see if this catalog works. If yes, you could then try to import your current catalog into the new one.
