Lightroom Mobile Photos Gone

Today I went to check my Lightroom Mobile photos synced to the Adobe cloud but couldn't get the Mac app to connect (it continuously said "waiting for connection"). I went to my iPad to check the photos from there and it told me I had no collections. I went over to my iPhone's LR Mobile app and when it first opened, all of my collections were there. Then it went to a loading screen and when it came back it said I had no collections. I had hundreds of pictures synced to the cloud so this is both incredibly frustrating and terrifying. Is this just a connection issue or did all of my photos some how get deleted?

Correct answer greule

Did you connect a new Lr Desktop catalog to your account? Since Lr Mobile currently only supports one catalog at a time the previous connected catalog will be purged. In that case you should have recieved a caution allert within Lr Desktop. - Guido

Hello Peter,

I've recently found myself in the same situation as most of the above, except that I've lost about 40gb of pictures I've been working on for quite some time, in addition to a number of 'professional' photos that I do not have backups for (my fault for not backing up many of these pics).

I had been been trying to figure out how to get my entire catalogue off my iPad, which I had been dancing with storage issues for sometime, to transfer them to a new laptop and my pc, but I had already used the trial some time ago, be I knew what I wanted to do with it.  Thought I could use a different ID and utilize the sync function, but you lose the catalogue, so I resigned into my original ID to find all of my photos are gone. It hasn't quite sunk in, the gravity of this situation and figured I'd write before I lost my marbles.

Please advise...

For the record, I think I'll be joining the plan soon, but now without the need for sync (as of yet), it may be put on the backburner, if not scrapped to find a new service.

Thank you for your time

hi Peter, I have some problem as well. After viewing the problems here, I found out that I have a total different situation. I am currently using Lr Mobile, and hasn't signed in yet, so the syncing function is also disabled by me. However, while I am editing Raw pictures I imported, several pictures just vanished to nowhere, right after I left the picture edit page. No matter how much I tried to import again, they are nowhere to be found even though the notification shows "imported successfully." What should I do? Any help?

Jeffrey,

Sorry to hear about your problems.

Are you using LR Mobile on an iPhone or an Android device?

Thanks for your reply. I'm currently using Android version, with Android 6.0 build. What makes the matter worse is that it happened not just one time, and I'm pretty frustrated about it. The only solution I could ever come up with was to erase the app says, which means I had to export all the photos I had edited and erase them all. In the long run, I could only import the photos that were missing and re-edited them again.

More specifically, I created a new catalog because I was out of town, and clicked to sync with LR mobile-thinking this would add to my LR mobile images already there.  I saw no warnings about deleting/purging previous catalog in Mobile to my recollection.

Hi there, I just went out of town and needed to keep my computer at home, so I installed LR on my 2nd laptop.  The same thing has happened to me, and all of my LR mobile photos are gone.  Can I please get these recovered some how?

Help!  I was trying to switch catalogs for photos I'd taken on my phone.  I understood that my photos would be deleted from the cloud but not that they would be deleted from my iPhone!! The messaging needs to be much clearer!  It seems that it is possible to recover items that made it to the cloud.  If there is anyway this can be done I would be soooo grateful!!!

Tim,

I've emailed all your files from your deleted catalog.  Let me know if you run into any issues.

If there are suggestions you have on the messaging, would appreciate the feedback.

You guys are the BEST!  Thank you, thank you, thank you.  As far as messaging goes I think being very clear that files will be deleted regardless of where they reside - cloud OR attached libraries.  I do really like the mobile product - I just didn't understand the relationship between the cloud library and the device libraries.

Thank you again!

I ran into this same issue last night. The company I work for purchased several licenses. I logged out of my trial account and into the new account in LR mobile assuming the photos would be there. Instead, nothing.  So, I figured they would still be under the old ID. Logged back in with that and still nothing. No warning that photos would be gone. Nothing. Just 2 months of images, gone. I agree with most here. It is extremely frustrating to have this happen without any indication that it is going to happen.

Hey Peter,

I'm hopeful that you can also help me.  I did not realize that when resyncing that the photos would be deleted from my iPad and everywhere else for that matter.  I really need to recover the photos that I lost - 247 in number.

Please let me know if you can help!

I used the lightroom mobile app on my vacation last week. So I had 80% of my pictures on my iphone.

When I got home the pictures weren't syncing to my lightroom cc program and the next time I started Lightroom CC the program asked if I wanted to sync with a different collection. I thought that this would solve my problem, but in stead all the original pictures were deleted from my phone and adobe cloud!

It is not clear at all from the dialog box that there is even a slight chance that the original raw photo's are deleted from the memory of your mobile device!

I pay a lot of money for lightroom and it was worth every penny. But I don't get how a company like Adobe would ever consider making a option that without clear notification would delete original photo's from any device!

Is there a way to retrieve the pictures from my Iphone?

I would be more than happy with jpg's at this moment!
