Loupe view missing

In Lightroom Classic, one is able to see file attributes via the Loupe overlay but this functionality appears to me absent in Lightroom for Mac. Any workaround other than having to use the pane? I’d prefer to see the overlay when viewing images full screen.

    Hi funchess,

Thank you for reaching out. This is a great observation and a completely understandable expectation, especially coming from Lightroom Classic, where the Loupe Info Overlay (cycling with the I key) is such a natural part of the workflow.

Unfortunately, Lightroom for Mac (the cloud-based version) does not currently include a Loupe Info Overlay feature. The I key in Lightroom opens the Info panel on the right side, but there's no option to display file attributes directly overlaid on the image in Loupe or full-screen view.

Your current option is to use the Info panel (I key), which shows metadata in the side panel and works in full screen, though it does take up some screen space.

We appreciate you taking the time to share this.

I’d like to suggest that the Loupe info overlay functionality be added to the cloud based Lightroom as showing an entire panel reduces the size of the viewable image space on single display setups.

Thank you for the feedback. I can definitely see the value in having a Loupe-style metadata overlay in Lightroom Desktop, especially in single-display setups where opening the full Info panel reduces the available image-viewing area.

Since this would be a feature request rather than a bug fix, I’d encourage you to either:

    • Create a new feature request in the Lightroom Ecosystem (Cloud-Based) community

    or

    • Add your vote and comments to this existing feature request, which is quite similar to what you’re asking for: https://community.adobe.com/feature-requests-681/p-showing-file-info-on-the-thumbnails-661621

When adding your comment, I’d recommend mentioning:
    • Your Lightroom Desktop (cloud) workflow
    • The difference compared to Lightroom Classic’s Loupe Info Overlay
    • Why the side panel is not an ideal substitute
    • The benefits of having metadata available in full-screen review/culling workflows

The more upvotes, comments, examples, and real-world use cases a request receives, the easier it is for the product and engineering teams to evaluate demand and prioritize potential future enhancements.

    Best regards,
