Trouble syncing on macOs Catalina 10.15.4

I am running Lightroom 3.2.1. on macOs Catalina 10.15.4. 

 

When I start the app a red banner appears saying "volume is disconnected. Please connect to finish syncing". After some time the banner disappears and the app starts the syncing process, but it gets stuck. However, the changes I make to the photos do get synced across other devices. In the preferences, did you change the location for local storage of originals? Even if you do not check the option to store a local copy, Lightroom does need to make a temporary copy. If that location is not available, then you might get this warning. Doesn't the warning say which volume it is looking for?
