Hi Everyone,I am new to Adobe Media Server, but hopefully will pick up quick.  Trying to find help with an issue of viewing the HDS/HLS of the live stream I'm encoding.  Although, I can view the RTMP output via the demo page just fine.  The setup is very very basic.  AMS 5.01 Dev Edition installed on CentOS 5.8.  Everything has been left at default. The URL is working (http://internal-ip-address/hls-live/livepkgr/_definst_/liveevent/livestream.m3u8) because it did play out a few segments I recorded right after first install.  I since then deleted the .f4f trying to see it would write new ones with no joy.  As a test I am just embedding these using HTML 5 video tag and using Safari, Android, and iOS for testing.  I am getting the error below as well, but not sure if its related.Apache Errors after deleting:[Thu Jan 31 12:18:37 2013] [error] mod_hlshttp [403]: No access to /opt/adobe/ams/applications/livepkgr/streams/_definst_/livestream/livestream

Hello everyone,I like to change the applications location in Flash Media Server 5.I installed AMS on UBUNTU in opt/adobe/ams path. So by default AMS create the folder applications such as (livepkg , vod , live) in the AMS folder But I want to change this location.I am following Adobe Media Server 5.0.3 * Configuring content storage But when I publish video into the AMS video segments is not save in the new folder (opt/adobe/newApplications)I am copy applications folder from AMS to opt/adobe and change the APPSDIR path in ams.ini of "opt/adobe/ams/applications" to "opt/adobe/newApplications".When I apply this edit into the ams.ini, video segments is not copy in the default location (rootinstall/applications/livepkgr/streams/_definds_/EventStream), also isn't copy into the new location (opt/adobe/newApplications/livepkgr/streams/_definds_/).Please advise me to solve this problem.Many Thanks.

Hello All, I am using Flash Media Server. For RTMFP clients to connect directly to each other would I be required to create a user lookup system to exchange peerIDs such as xmpp, use a remote shared object or, create a peer registry etc.? I know this is not possible in Cirrus. But I was unsure about FMS.Thanks

We have 4 AMS servers load balanced (DNS) with identical application on each. RTMPe is playing fine from flash desktops, however, HLSe on IOS devices randomly stops playing part way through the content. I do not see any relevant errors in AMS/Apache. The front end player shows the following errors when the content stops playing:"CoreMediaErrorDomain" "No response for media file in 0.49632s" "CoreMediaErrorDomain" "Segment exceeds specified bandwidth for variant"Similar issues discussed here: http://openradar.io/15060374 (thought not AMS specific).This could be a player issue. It seems to randomly have issues grabbing an HLS segment. From the documentation here: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/adobemediaserver/configadmin/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d119f29260bd-7ffa.2.3.html is is stated that " Adobe Media Server handles log rotation for the Apache logs." However, it appears not to be the case.My logs in /opt/adobe/ams/Apache/logs are not rotating.Can you help with this? Does AMS handle this or will I need to manually logrotate?Regards,A

How can I read the bootstrap files of any HDS Live stream and extract the fragment-URLs and fragment-numbers in plain text?Could it be that it is some kind of compressed format in the bootstrap? Can I uncompress it wirh  f4fpackager.exe? Could not find any download for f4fpackager.exe. I would prefere less code to do so. Is there something in Java of JavaScript, that can extract the fragment-numbers?Thank you!

Hello everyone,I install Flash Media Server 5 Extended edition with apache on UBUNTU SERVER 14.04 successfully.Now when I type IP address in the other computer in the same network I can login to the Flash Media Server console but when I want to publish video from webcam or other devices to the media server I get the error "NetConnection.Connect.Failed"I am newer in Linux please advise me to solve this problem.Thanks in advance.

Hi all,I currently have Flash Media Server 3.5.0 installed and it has been running since 2009.  It has been running for so long without issues I kind of forgot about it.  Now i see there is an update to 3.5.7.  I downloaded it but when I ran the installer it warned me that all my configuration settings may be lost.  I tried to find some info on the best procedures to follow to perform the update but was unable to find much.  I really do not want to lose my settings.  I looked in the FMS admin console but i did not see any option to backup the current settings.  What is the best way to proceed with this update without losing your settings or negatively impacting the media server?

Hello,I have a problem with mapping a network drive, I am on Windows Server 2008 R2. Indeed when I create a symbolic link in /webroot/vod to my network drive, the Apache Log says files does not exist even if the specified path is ok. Apache don't understand the symbolic link with a network drive ?Thank you,Olivier

Hi, I'm trying to workout how to configure the AMS for adaptive streaming when the encoder can only upload 1 high-quality stream.The AMS has to split & transcode that stream into several other streams with lower bitrate so i can use those for adaptive streaming.According to the specs this must be possible for live-video with never releases of the media-server but I'm unable to workout how to proceed.Any direction toward documentation on this is fine, but so far I've only seen examples where the encoder was sending multiple streams and that's not what i'm looking for.Regards,Bas

We are exploring using AMS 5.  One of the reasons we are looking at this is that we can not multicast with our current media server.  After a month or so of trying to get multicast up and working we think we have solved that issue.  Now that it is running, is there a way we can track the number of connections we have for an event.  Currently we only do live webcasts a couple of times a month.  In the past I usually get asked for the number of people who watched the webcast.  This is within a corporate environment.  We are using Wirecast as our encoder if that matters.

HI I am developing app in flex 4.6 (web app) and using latest flash player (I guess 13.n.n) with FMS interactive server 4.5. I want to publish multi bit rate streams from one app, one client. Is that possible without using FMLE. For example I want to publish three streams (with same camera) with following bit rate (150, 500, 1000). Any help will be appreciated. Second question: Is that possible to use rtmfp protocol with FMS interactive server 4.5 (not peer to peer).

I am trying to work with HLS using FMS4.5. We have live streams and on-demand streams which can be 4 hours long duration and can have 3000-5000 users.Definitely, i don't want all the users fetch the segment(.ts) files from my FMS. and increase load on the server.What is the best practice to handle such a situation? Can CDNs help in this case? If yes, how?

Hi everyone,Do any of you have come across with the issue where , FMS created .mp4 file having more then 10 streams is not getting spitted ? If I try to split with a command f4vpp -c -s -i INPUTFILE.mp4 -o OUTPUTFILE.mp4 - It throws the following errors-212     Splitting of the file failed.I know it has do with moov->trak->mdia->minf->stbl->stsd box where it defines the number of avc1 - Is there a limitation on f4vpp to not allow more then 10 streams or there is a bug on the command?Your help will be appreciated.Thanks

I set up my ams server to stream ondemand rtmp video to stream on server all is well on that side but cant get it to stream to my website need some help please.

I have Flashmediaserver 4.5 and a Dell Server running "Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 6.5 (Santiago)" Will flashmedia server install and function correctly in this version of Redhat? I know the installdoc says version 5.5 or newer but will it work in 6.5 with no issues? I don't want to install it and have it seem to work fine then find out it is a ticking timebomb or something.

I have an application that uses shared objects with AMS. I use shared objects to check that AMS clients are still alive by using a simple time-based counter. The server increments the count, and the client writes the count back to 0 when it sees this. If the count gets too high, the client is no longer alive. This has worked fine on FMS 4.0, FMS 4.5, AMS 5.0, and on AWS AMS 5.0.1 from ami-08cd7261. For ami-e1070688, this use of shared objects fails. The shared objects are acquired and updated too slowly. Is this expected of the new version? I am not sure exactly whether the version is AMS 5.0.3 or 5.0.4. There are different versions displayed in different places and I am not sure which is accurate.

I am using ams 5 starter and avchat.net's flash chat....Media server is on my pc..Chat files on host gator...When i try to load chat from the same ip that is running the media server...It does not load... it only loads from a vpn or diff ip.. solution?
