16bit Pixmap via Photoshop Connection SDK?

In the Photoshop Connection SDK, the Pixmap definition cites "8 currently supported" for bits per channel. Is this still the only supported bpc, or are more recent versions of Photoshop willing to emit >8bpc Pixmap across a TCP connection (and the docs are just stale)? It is important that I can receive the actual flattened 16-bit pixel values when operating in 16-bit mode.
