Active Layers Not Showing

Using Photoshop v. 23.1 on Windows 10 Pro 64-bit.

Active (non-hidden) layers are not showing. This used to be fixed by switching to or away from legacy compositing but that's no longer an option.

Please, how do I fix this?

Try enabling this option in preferences and restarting Photoshop to see if it helps
