Audio playback pauses when using AI tools in Photoshop 27.2 (AMD GPU, regression)

In Photoshop 27.2 on Windows, audio playback pauses for about 0.5–1 second every time an AI-based tool is used (Select Subject, Object Selection, etc.).

This issue started immediately after updating to version 27.2. The same system running an older Photoshop version does not have this problem.

Audio stops system-wide (tested with VLC and browser playback), so this appears to be a performance / GPU scheduling regression.

System:
• Windows
• AMD GPU

Workarounds:
• Reverting to an older Photoshop version fixes the issue
• Disabling GPU acceleration also avoids the problem

This seems to be a regression in the latest Photoshop release.

Newer versions of Photoshop have greater requirements, and AI features demand more and more of the GPU, so it may not be a regression in Photoshop (this isn't a broadly reported issue) so much as a system problem. Make sure that your drivers are fully up-to-date, especially GPU and audio hardware, and read these pages carefully for clues:
