Constrain The Image In Fit Image To Width

Is it possible to force PS to constrain an image to a given width, or height, rather than to the longest side? I want to line up a mixed-orientation group of photos - portrait & landscape - the width being the deciding factor.

Your desired operation is "File / Automate / Fit Image ...".

The width should be the desired value and the height should be 300000.

300,000 is the current max pixel count for a doc’s width or height (a while back it was 30,000).
