Driver update recommended but....

Hello

Latest version of Photoshop tells me that my NVIDIA GeForce MX250 is out of date. When I click on the "Update Drivers" link this is the message I see on the update page for my driver.

"Although GeForce Game Ready Drivers and NVIDIA Studio Drivers can be installed on supported notebook GPUs, the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) provides certified drivers for your specific notebook on their website. NVIDIA recommends that you check with your notebook OEM for recommended software updates for your notebook."

There are no updates for this driver for my laptop, so now what? Clearly there is a newer version but the laptop manufacturer isn't recommending it. So should I update anyway?

I wouldn't even consider it if there were no issues in Photoshop but when I try to use the enhance feature in camera raw it doesn't work and an error appears.

Any advice on whether to update anyway? My last update for the driver is from early 2022.

Thanks

I think that's a generic message mostly intended to avoid liability. Laptop manufacturers tend to modify hardware and software extensively, so if you don't use their driver some added functions may not work.

The driver itself will probably work just fine.

Studio drivers aren't available for all GPUs.

I eventually figured that out and installed the updated driver from the NIVIDIA site. And no, there wasn't a Studio driver for it. Seems to work fine even though it didn't fix the issues in Camera Raw and LrC when it came to Denoise and Enhance.

I wonder if this setting will help?

Interesting. As my machine is only a couple years old I imagine that my GPU is that old though. Thank you

Can you let us know if it helps?  We have had lots of feedback on Deactivate Native Canvas with fixing a suprising number of different display glitches, but I can't remember a single poster saying if the Older GPU option worked for them.

In a similar thread to yours earlier today, the poster was told that the current version of Photoshop would not work for them as their GPU was only DirectX 12.0, and Photoshop V24.# needs DirectX 12.1  Looking at the specs for the MX250  The bracketed (12_1) makes me wonder if it can do DirectX12.1 with a firmware update.

Hmmm...  It's not clear looking at this page

I wanted to edit my post but see how to.

Anyhow, I added screenshots to my original posts showing the error messages.
