Duplication of images in Photoshop

Hello PS users,

A very basic issue but one that is giving me trouble.

I can duplicate the opening layer of a new image (ctrl + J) to keep one version free of edits. However, my problem is not being able to duplicate the image on the screen such that I have two images on the screen that I can rotate, flip, distort and create interesting permutations. I have read numerous tutorials but no one has answered the question. Can anyone help me become a master of duplication, triplication or whatever since I feel very frustrated? I am using Windows 11, PS 25.6.0 and LRC 14.1.1.

If you just want a second display of the same image (that you can zoom in/out, use the Rotate View Tool on, …) you can use

Window> Arrange > New Window for …

Thank you c.pfaffenbichler,
Try as I might, I don't see a second image appear when I follow your
suggestion.
On occasion there are minor differences in the ?new image but there is
never a second image that I can access.

Are you using tabbed View or floating windows?

Please post screenshots to clarify.

You can have two synchronised windows showing the same document and use the zoom and rotate view tools independently on either of them. You can edit the actual document (as opposed to the view) in either window and other will update.
Use Window > Arrange > New Window for xxxxdocumentnamexx
Then Window >Arrange > Tile... as required

If you want to independently edit both versions then you will need to duplicate the document Image > Duplicate and work on each. Without duplication you would end up with two sets of conflicting edits in the same document.

I'm not sure if I'm understanding, however, there is the Image > Duplicate command.

I have been using the PS forum and Lightroom forum for a while now. I did
forget the precise address so I thought I was in the right forum. What is
