Exit Code: 6, Ps Cs5 trial install.

hi, ive downloaded the trial of Photoshop Cs5 but it wont install, i get to about 10% in the install and then i get "Exit Code: 6".

ill begin with my system specs:

(Swedish language) Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 2.40GHz 2.39GHz

4GB Ram

Ati Radeon x1950xTx

Asus P5B deluxe motherboard

1680x1050 Acer P223w screen.

i've cleaned my regestry for problems with "Glarysoft Regestry repair", disabled my ESET NOD32 anti-vir, ran the setup as Administrator, choose to install as trial but i get to about 10% and i get Exit Code: 6.

In my case when I could not install CS5 it seemed to be a problem with

an old version of Adobe Air.

I went back to a restore point where Adobe Air was not on the machine,

restored the system, then installed the latest version of Adobe Air then

CS5 successfully.

Incredibly, I've solved my problem: I don't know why, but a service named ( in Italian) "Programma di installazione dei moduli di Windows", so in english something like "Installation program for Windows modules" was DISABLED. Set it to Manual and started...... et voilà installed PS CS5 trial! \o/

Same problem with install of CS5. Would not complete install, with Exit Code 6. Wanted to try using Adobe Support Advisor, but could not install. Tried to first install Adobe Air, but would not install. Looked at installed programs and found Adobe Air installed, v 1.5.3.9120 (as I remember). Tried to uninstall but would not uninstall. Could not be removed by either Adobe Clean Up script or Microsoft Clean Up program. Since this was a new machine, a Lenovo Thinkpad Edge with i3 chip and Win 7 Pro, looked for and found a restore point that did not have Adobe Air installed. Restored system to state without Adobe Air, installed Adobe Air, v 1.5.3.9130, then Adobe Support Advisor installation was successful. Then PS CS5 was installed successfully.

I disabled everything including startup programs, non-microsoft services, etc ..

I used Adobe Clean Script for several time.

Just before i wanted to install Dreamweaver CS5 i had Dreamweaver CS4 installed. Therefore i uninstalled Dreamweaver CS4 first.

No that i found out that CS5 had this install-bug, i could not get a dreamweaver CS4 trial version to

install, which kinds of annoys me to some degree. Anyway, i hope this problem is fixed real soon..

We have written a techdoc to address this issue. For the solutions, please see, 'Error, "Exit Code: 6" or "Exit Code: 7" occurs when installing a Creative Suite 5 product' (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/843/cpsid_84332.html).

I work within Technical Support and I have helped a number of customers with this issue. I would like to point out a few things.

Exit Code 6 and Exit Code 7 actually only indicate the installation failed. They are not actually informing you why the installation failed. Most Creative Suite 5 product installations that fail, will fail with one of these two exit codes. To fix the problem you need to find the actually component that failed within the installation. The document I referenced above should help you to find the solution.

The two most common issues we are finding that are causing these Exit Codes and no specific failures within the Summary section of your installation log are:

The Microsoft Visual Studio 8 or 9 runtime fails to install.
This is either caued by the error discussed in this document, "Error 1401, 1402, 1404 or 1406 during installation of Creative Suite 4 or 5 products on Windows" (

http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/404/kb404622.html) or the Windows Installer is not functioning correctly on your machine. You need to take steps to repair it which are discussed in (

http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/400/kb400593.html).

The Search for Help or Adobe Media Player fail to install. Steps to repair both of these are also found in (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/400/kb400593.html).

I hope this helps with your installation issues. Please leave comments on cpsid_84332 or kb400593 if these documents do not help you to resolve the problem.

Hey guys, just FYI

i have been having this problem with installing the trial version from day one.

so, after spending many hours, i decided to reinstall my OS (Windows 7 x64) and voila! it installed correctly and now i can finally try it out. no exit code 6 bull.

on the side, this confirms that this is an issue on the user side, and specifically within windows (hmm... who knew right? *sarcasm* ).

if you guys are spending rediculous amounts of time trying to fix, i recommend giving the comp a reinstall. took me like 3 hours to reinstall and return everything to normal and install PS.

but of course, i would save this for last resort... cuz these guys give a lot of good help.

I have this exact same error, as mentioned in the first post. I run Vista 64-bit.

I tried to install all msi files first as well, but it doesn't work. I gave the full permission in the registry, still the same problem occurs. Does anyone have any new suggestions?

I installed Master Collection and all programs installed excet for after effects. I know this thread is for Photoshop but the error is the same.

It seems odd that only After effects had this issue??

I have solved a problem.

I just have copied the installer on a system disk, and have started it therefrom.
