Generative Upscale Creates Black Image Layers Instead of Upscaled Output, Photoshop 27.6.0 on macOS 26.3.1

I have never been able to successfully upscale images in PS 2026. When the upscale completes, I get a black layer. No upscale. I’ve tried all of the suggestions in other threads to no avail. Please help!

After days of troubleshooting why CC wasn’t showing the PS 27.8 update, I finally installed it. Unfortunately, I’m still getting the black layer, see attached. PLEASE help me figure out how to make this work as I really don’t want to have to shell out money for a third party app and I want to get my projects finished. Thanks.

I’m running MS Tahoe 26.5.1 and PS 27.7.0

I’ve tried all suggestions in this thread, but no dice.

Sorry to hear about this experience. According to the report, your macOS and Photoshop versions have not been updated in a while. Please update to the latest versions of macOS and Photoshop, then let us know how it goes.

Please do not forget to back up your Photoshop preferences before updating, just to be safe, as they may be lost during the process. You can find the preference backup location and instructions here:

Once you've completed the updates, please test again and share the results with us.
