How to create an CIO file in Photoshop

I was searching for how to do this today and the only thing I found in an Adobe forum was this rather old post about a plugin. So I figured I'd leave this for the next person to Google it.

It's very simple. I don't know if you have to do this, but I did.

  1. Open an image in photoshop (I used a png).
  2. Resize it to 256 x 256.
  3. Go to File>Save As
  4. When typing the name of the file you're saving, just put .ico as the file extension.
  5.  I was asked something about save size. The default option was Smallest (Slowest save). I went with that.

Seemed to work great! I've got a usable ico for my React app!

The file must better be saved as a BMP before renaming the extension. Also forget 16b and layers…

Sorry, today it doesn't work. No ICO format there.
