Issue with guides setting

When I try to make a new guide in Photoshop it shows up as pixels instead of inches so I have to type in “in”. This is a new issue. Any idea how to fix it? I have my rulers set in inches etc. Thanks!

    Hi @Liza36959030wjud,

Thanks for confirming that Preferences > Units & Rulers > Rulers is already set to Inches. This appears to match a known issue we’re tracking where the New Guide dialog can ignore the preferred ruler unit and interpret values as pixels instead.

As a workaround, please try going to:

    • Preferences > Technology Previews > uncheck “Enable Modern User Interface”. Then restart Photoshop and test View > Guides > New Guide again.

    • You can also continue entering the unit explicitly, for example, 2in instead of just 2, as a temporary workaround.

    • Could you also test the latest Photoshop Beta 27.11, available from Creative Cloud Desktop > Apps > Beta, and let us know whether the New Guide dialog behaves correctly there?

If disabling Enable Modern User Interface resolves the issue for you as well, please let us know. I’ll merge your report with the existing thread so we can keep similar reports together. Once a fix becomes available, we’ll update that thread, and you and the other subscribed users will receive the update there.

    Best,

In Edit > Preferences > Units and Rulers, in the Units section, make sure Rulers is set to inches.
