M: Photoshop 21.1.3 freezes when using Adjustments on macOS (Rulers enabled)

Hi!

I thought that the problem when using intensity/contrast in adjustments (it is extremly slow to the point I think the computer freezes) was solved by restoring preferences and restoring warning messages, but as it turns out the problem is still there! Turning of the graphic card processor helps maybe a little (one or two times) but then there are other issues such as I can't use the filter "lightning effects". The problem is there wether I work on a big or small file. The only thing I can upgrade on the computer is to the OS Catalina.

Computer :  OS Mojave 10.14.6, iMac (Retina 5K, 27, 2019), processor Intel Core i9, 32 GB DDR4 Ram,

Radeon Pro 580X 8GB.

Please need help!

/Jan

ADOBE released an upgrade today that fixed this problem. I tested it and it works fine.

I pay $50 a month for CC just to have Photoshop to crash with hue/saturation adjustment?

It's completely unacceptable that Adobe has known about this issue and not been able to fix it in OVER TWO WEEKS.

Yep I have this same problem. After 25+ years of Photoshop being on the market, we really shouldn't be losing work because the Hue and Saturation panel causes a program crash. Do better testing, hire more QA people, whatever it takes. This is basic stuff. I could understand if some experimental new feature caused a crash, but not reducing saturation. Thanks

Same problem here, Hue and Saturation freezes Photoshop... I am on a deadline, C'mon Adobe!

La restauration des préférences après avoir vérifié que tous les préréglages personnalisés tels que les actions, les motifs, les pinceaux, etc. ont été enregistrés peut être un bon point de départ

Same here. (Catalina 10.15.5 (19F101))

Disabling rulers and moving the pop up window out of the artboard view work for me, too!

You cannot work this way, various settings are frozen and the program must be restarted.

I disabled rulers and now it no longer freezes, BUT I use rulers all the time and would like to have them ON.  Please advise when this if fixed.  At least I can work now.  Thanks for the info.

Instead of using the Image > Adjust menu, go to your layers panel and choose an Adjustment layer. HSB for example or if you can, move your dialog box away from the document area.

I'm running Catalina and moving the brightness/contrast properties outside of the workspace worked for me. Thanks!

Either hide the rulers if you don't need them or apply Hue/Saturaion as an adjustment layer from the Layers panel instead of using "Image > Adjust"

Hello everyone

Hi Everyone
My photoshop (21.1.3) on macOS (10.15.4) lag and then freezes every time I use hue/saturation and brightness/contrast, some other image regulations options lag but doesn't freeze the program.

It let me tune just a few parameters (while heavily lagging) and then the regulation window freeze letting me move it but can't close it. all I can do is right-click on the PS icon and forced to close.

Am happy the admin is giving a relieving response

my regards

Hi there,

We're sorry about the trouble. Have you tried to disble the Rulers by going to the View menu as suggested to check if it helps?

Regards,

Nikunj
