My generative ai credits are being consumed when I am only opening an image in photoshop and manually adjusting levels and brightness.

My genereative ai credits are disappearing without me using any ai. I opened a jpg in photoshop, went to the adjustments panel and manually used the sliders to adjust the levels. When I opened Photoshop I had 34/1000 credits left. When I saved out my jpg after adjusting the levels I had 33/1000 credits. I did not use any form of the generative ai.

Additionally when I do use the generative ai to extend one photo it uses far more than one credit. This morning I started with 60/1000 credits. I opened the jpg I wanted to extend. I used my crop tool to extend all sides to where I wanted them and hit generate to fill in. I flattened my image, saved and closed, my credits went all the way down to 34/1000.

The amount of credits consumed depends on whether the feature is Standard or Premium, as well as the output size or length.

It’s also difficult for us to understand exactly what is going on because Photoshop uses Generative Credits differently according to the plan you are on. For instance, do you know if you get unlimited Firefly credits?

What do you see if you open the Credits panel?

When you ‘Extended’ your photo, did you do this with the crop tool, and if yes, what was the Crop tool set to in the Options bar?

I don’t think I get charged any credits for this function because I have a full CC subscription. I have a feeling that you do. If that’s the case then Content Aware Fill would be free for you, but Generative Expand would use credits.

This is very unusual. It would be helpful, if you’d please share your workflow, where these things happen. We can then suggest ways to avoid the generative credits usage.
Adobe doesn’t give us a single “button” to turn off generative AI, but it can be done per tool.
Screenshots will be helpful here.

Yeah it is very frustrating. I have not been on my computer since Friday at 1pm. I had 16 credits left then. I opened adobe this morning to find 0 credits left. Without doing anything. The majority of my photo edits that I do are as follows:
Open photo in photoshop
Open levels panel from adjustments
Manually use sliders to edit
Flatten, save, close. Credits gone.

I’m losing credits just opening adobe apps is what it feels like.

Wow! That WOULD be frustrating! This is completely new to me. I wonder if your Creative Cloud app is doing something - although, I can’t come up with what.
