Question

Opt/Alt Dragging to duplicate artboard duplicates the artboard twice

Hi, annoying bug here that was also present in PHotoshop 2024. I just updated to 2025 and the issue is present.

To reproduce:

Select 1 or more artboards

Hold Opt/Alt, then drag artboards to duplicate

after several seconds, duplicate artboards appear as expected, then a bit later a second artboard or artboards will appear inthe direction you dragged, as if you had dragged it again. You can undo once and it undoes the second instance of duplicate artboards.

It's not totally consistent, I think it may have to do with artboards containing objects that are larger than the artboard, maybe objects that would overlap with other artboards if they werent already contained in an artboard.

I've found this on Windows, but not Mac.

Forgot to mention, I'm on a macbook, not a PC.

Hey, @Mason21900072nw8r & @sandraj41735666. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. I'll need more info to help you figure this out.

Please share a video of the issue along with the system info from Photoshop Help > System info > Copy and paste into a text document > Upload and attach here. If possible, share a sample PSD document that behaves as reported to me via direct message at my profile.

Also, please test and confirm if the issue exists with Photoshop (Beta). You can get Photoshop (beta) from the Creative Cloud > Apps tab > Beta Apps section.

Thanks!

My team is having this EXACT problem.  It is driving me nuts.  I've wasted an hour on ONE job because of it.  I hold down Opt and drag an artboard (or multiple artboards) and it will either do it and then decide it doesn't want to do it and revert back.  Or it will sit and think for a minute.  Or it will duplicate it and then add another duplicate.  If I do happen to duplicate an artboard I can't get it to line up to the others.  I move it and when I let go of my mouse it will randomly move it twice as far as I did.  It happened on the previous version and the current one.  I haven't updated to the most recent, but I'm sure it's there too.  It is absolutely frusterating.

I cannot reproduce the issue on Windows 11 using Photoshop 26.0.0. Everything works fine. I tried several times.
