P: Missing partner and Firefly models from Generative Fill

Starting from scratch with a blank canvas, there is only Firefly 3 available. No Gemini, no Flux, no Firefly 5. This must be a bug, right?

It is certainly a bug. If you select entire canvas it will only show generate image and then one option, Firefly 3, no partner models. If you substract one pixel from selection, generative fill and all models will be available. I hope it is not something intentional.

    @enagen

In the current release (27.6) using generate image only offers Firefly. However, making a selection, then using Generate Fill from the menus (in Windows Select > Select All then Edit > Generate Fill ) offers the full range of models.

This is because Adobe updated the Contextual Task Bar. The bar only has “Generate Image” as a button, which uses Firefly 3. You have to go to Edit → Generative Fill to get the other models. Generate Image and Generative Fill are 2 different options. Why Fill isn’t on the bar anymore is beyond me.

Hi @AKS666, thanks for flagging this.

What you're seeing in Generate Image is expected — it's an update to the UI that now shows the model being used, which is currently Firefly Image 3. We're aware and are actively working to bring more models to Generate Image, including partner models and Firefly Image 5, in an upcoming release.

Partner models and additional Firefly models are currently only available in Generative Fill and Generative Expand workflows.

For more details on model availability and recent changes, you can visit our help page here

We appreciate your patience and feedback!

[update] My bad: I used ‘generate image’ instead of ‘generative fill’ in the contextual menu. Cause I selected the entire canvas. When I select part of the image and choose ‘generative fill’ I get those models again.

I’ve installed 27.6.0. When I choose Generative Fill though the contextual menu the list of available models is almost empty. Just one shows up When I go to Edit > Generative Fill, then I get to see those models again. But through the contextual menu the list remains nearly empty except for the ‘Firefly Image 3’ one.

Hello, resetting preferences does nothing, still looks the same. Only Firefly 3 appearing.

@Srishti Bali  I can replicate that here in v27.6.

    For clarity:

Using a blank canvas and using Edit > Generate Image gives only the option of FireFly 3 - no other Firefly models and no Partner models.

However, using the same blank canvas, making a selection of the entire canvas and then using Edit Generative Fill gives a full choice of models.

Unfortunately not. Having a selection or not makes no difference here…

EDIT: You are right. But I used the contextual task bar. THEN it makes no difference…

EDIT2: It depends if you use generative fill or generate image. Contextual task bar only gives the option to generate image.

    Hi @Manu_74 @AKS666

Thank you both for reaching out, and apologies for the inconvenience caused. I’ve moved this issue to a separate conversation to avoid confusion and improve visibility.

Could you please confirm whether you’ve already tried resetting the preferences as outlined in my initial response?

If not, I kindly request that you follow those steps and then share the System Info from Photoshop’s Help menu. Please copy and paste the complete report here for further review.
