P: Pen Tool Not Working as it should

I have just updated Photoshop to v22.3 (10 March 2021). When I try to use the Pen Tool it puts the nodes in but doesn't create a linking line. I have closed everything and re-started my PC but the error still there. I've been trying to find a way to report this to Adobe but this is the only feedback area I can find. I have been using Photoshop for over 20 years and using the Pen Tool all that time. I need to complete a job but I'm now stuck as I need this tool.

Can I uninstall this update?

Anyone else having this problem?

Do Adobe monitor this feed?

Hi,

We're happy to announce the release of Photoshop 22.4 which should include the fix for this issue. To update Photoshop to the latest version, you can check: https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html

For information on other issues fixed with this update, please check: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/fixed-issues.html

When drawing a path over an existing one using the pen tool, the line are not shown anymore, only the knots.

Except if I use the freeform, the line is shown.

WTF!?

Legend!!! I was furious this morning when an Adobe agent kept sending me to the "how to use the pen tool" page of their website... Even though I showed the screen recording of this behaviour. Your solution at least makes paths usable again until it's fixed 😃 THANK YOU!!

Maintain a work path and working on named paths should function as expected.

Thank you. That must be how I got it to work 🙂

In the latest update, when using the pen tool to edit an existing path (like to add in a path around a gap you missed when etching) - Photoshop will only add anchor points to that path, and refuses to link them to draw a shape. Instead you just get lots of floating anchor points with no path connecting them.

If you click off your path in the palette so there are none selected, then start drawing a path, Photoshop creates a new work path and draws normally. This path can be copied and pasted into your saved path just fine, but if you click into any saved path it reverts back to the new anchor point only behaviour.

I can't see how this is useful in any way, so it must be a bug?

*Myra De La Cruz To make a work path, make sure no other paths are selected, and click with the path tool in the image to create a point. This will create a work path that you can just leave in the paths palette and work on the other paths normally.

I'm having the exact problem and did something and it started working again but couldn't figure it out what I did and now it's happening again. How do I make a working path?

I'm on Windows so I'm glad that it's happening to both platforms cause every time I have a problem my co-workers blame Windows.
