pastedimage_0
When you try to access the photoshop->preferences->performance menu it displays the following error : "Invalid Numeric Entry: an integer between 96 and 8 is required". It will not launch the performance settings tab. Tools such as blur, liquify etc which make use of GPU are also impacted.

Operating System:

Windows 10 Creators Update and above.

Note:

Users have reported this issue post installing the creators update on Windows 10.

Workaround:

Our engineers are working on a solution for this issue.

Note:

The following workaround is for customers who are comfortable with modifying their registry. If these types of instructions are unfamiliar or confusing to you, please contact support for help: Contact Customer Care

  • Press the Windows and "r" key simultaneously to bring up the run window.
  • Type regedit and press enter.
  • Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Photoshop\120.0
  • Right click on 120.0 and create a new DWORD.

I have the same problem. I reset my entire surface because i thought something was clogging my system (all i use it for is drawing so no biggy) and now all i have is Photoshop to start with and it is still giving me that error (saying i do not have enough RAM to do this action) when i try to magic wand or select or even save something.... Please help! I'm trying to make something for my mom for mothers day and i need Photoshop!

Nicole. Autodesk Sketchbook Pro is now FREE. It doesn't have, say the band-aid or magic wand but it is still a pretty good art program. you might look at Krita as it is free to use too.

I am only recommending this because. Well if PS cc doesn't work and people need to work. these are good free alternatives. I shouldn't be expected to patch it up a program I both need and pay for, just so I can do my job.

I have not been so frustrated with a customer service as Adobe with their copy and paste responses. I hate to get on a high horse. I do work as a contract artist professionally for the animation studios. and when I don't work, I do not get paid. and I get paid by the hour. this has actually cut into my paycheck this week. the cost I'd say now out weighs what I paid for an entire years subscription to the full Adobe Suite.

I'd be happier if Adobe would fix this issue themselves instead of me trying to put a band-aid on it. This issue happened to me yesterday with the new WIN 10 update. so frustrated with ADOBE.

However, Autodesk Sketchbook Pro works pretty darn well. - Chad T

not working for me

This answer does not completely solve the problem. I also ran into this problem, and it has something to do with the newer versions of Windows 10 available to those of us who are part of the insider program. Photoshop works fine on release 1709, but fails if you get updates from the Insiders fast ring. Someone smarter than I am needs to figure out if this is an Adobe problem or a Microsoft problem.

I went through the exercise of loading 1709 and installing Photoshop. It works. If I rejoin the Insider program for the computer and upgrade to the latest release, Photoshop fails to load the performance preference among other thing. To see if it was unique to the new releases from Microsoft, I reloaded 1709 from scratch. Clean system, nothing other than the OS. I let the system do all of the needed system updates and then proceeded to join the insider program again and updated the system to 17127. I the loaded CC and then installed Photoshop. Photoshop fails again. Something has changed in the Microsoft programming in my guess that breaks Photoshop. As a side note this problem only is occurring on 2 Surface Pro 4 systems. I have a Dell Inspiron 14 5447 system that seems to work fine.

I'm actually also part of the Windows 10 Insider program but am on the slow ring. I'm not sure this would make any difference but when I put Windows 10 up it was actually on a bare drive with no upgrade from 7 or other previous version involved.  To tell you the truth, I think many people that have Windows 10 problems are a result of a migration path.

I have not experienced any issues with Photoshop CC 2018 since I manually adjusted my register entry

I also ran into this error. I am in the fast ring for windows insiders. All of a sudden, Photoshop could not read JPG files...Corrupt?? If I could open the file and make edits, I couldn't save the file, "not enough memory". Trying to check performance preference only resuls in the "integer message" error.

I tried to uninstall, clean etc. all with not luck. I also did a clean install of 1709 Pro Windows. Reinstalled my Adobe applications and now everything is working correctly. I did a system image of the disk, and then turned back on Insider previews fast ring. I then got the update the system to "17123". After the install, with no image loaded I try and set preferences/performance an get the same error. I have to use task manager to kill the process. I also removed all Adobe products, used the Adobe Cleanup utility, and used regedit to remove all remaining references to Photoshop. I then did a new install of Photoshop. Same error same failure. I think this has something to do with the updates provided by Microsoft. My system image saved me from the whole reinstallation of all my Apps....

This works like a charm! Too bad Adobe didn't fix this after  what must have been thousands of error reports.

FYI: Also tried in safe mode in Windows 10. No difference. Still get the error message when opening the Performance tab in the Photoshop CC 2018 settings.

So, right now I'm using Photoshop CS6 that is in fact working (CS6 is included if you got CC).
I will use CS6 until:
* Adobe (or anyone else) finds a solution to this problem,
* I buy a new computer, or
* I re-install Windows 10 and Adobe CC. But this will probably not happen.

Meanwhile I found a workaround for my problem. Under \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\16. 0 I created a DWORD OverridePhysicalMemoryMB (my System has about 4 GB of free space with total 8 GB RAM)  with the value of 4000. Now I can open 'preferences --> performance' and change values. Anything works well again.

Obviously, PSE gets not the correct value for the available memory on my system, but I did not found the reason. That shouldn't be a problem for Adobe, their developers know how and where they grab the value. Let's see whether ADOBE contact, I have opend a telephone support request two days ago.

Hi, I have the same problem, except my error reads integer between 50 and 8 error.

I just purchased Photoshop Elements 2018 the other day.

I have installed, reinstalled as admin. I have 32gig if ram and I can't do anything with the program.

I am going to call Adobe and tell them I want a refund.

I just had an hour long chat session with the Adobe Support where they remote controlled  my computer. Doing a lot of stuff, login in as admin, re-installing Photoshop, checking and changing graphical settings and memory settings in Windows and more.
The supporter got help from several senior advisors.

Conclusion: Nothing helped.
Solution: Reinstall Windows (as already mentioned everywhere).

I didn't feel like reading all of the posts before this and it may be mute,  but have you tried booting in safe mode with internet  and than installing cc and PS. it will be huge on the screen but would totally eliminate any software conflicts.

I haven't tried safe mode (yet). And it seems no one else in this thread has tried it either (when I searched). But I think I read in another forum that someone had tried to fix the problem by booting in safe mode, but it didn't help.

Got this problem ("integer between 96 and 0") today using the latest version of Adobe Photoshop CC 2018 (v 19.01). Photoshop worked perfectly yesterday. During last night, Windows Update installed some stuff and rebooted the computer. And now Photoshop will not work properly. It starts up and I can open pictures, but I can't edit the picture in any way. And I can't open the Performance tab in the Preferences. If I do, I get the message "An integer between 96 and 0 is required. Closest value is inserted". I can't get rid of the message, so I have to kill the program.

Windows update installed the following updateds: KB4053577*, KB4054517, KB4048955, KB4048951*, KB4051613, KB4049179*, KB4041994.
* = updates for Adobe Flash Player.

Today I first installed Photoshop CC 2017, but it didn't work either. So I installed Photoshop CS6, and that version is in fact working properly. I have to use Photoshop CS6 until there is a fix for CC 2018.
I have also read on this page and on several other websites that the only known solution seems to be a new clean installation of Windows 10 and then reinstall the Adobe CC apps. However, I don't really want to reinstall everything. I told my boss today that I need to buy a new computer because of this problem. My computer is over 3 years old anyway.
