Hi Folks,

Please refer to below mentioned link or follow the steps mentioned here.

Invalid Numeric Entry - An integer between 96 and 8 is required

Issue:

pastedimage_0
When you try to access the photoshop->preferences->performance menu it displays the following error : "Invalid Numeric Entry: an integer between 96 and 8 is required". It will not launch the performance settings tab. Tools such as blur, liquify etc which make use of GPU are also impacted.

Operating System:

Windows 10 Creators Update and above.

Note:

Users have reported this issue post installing the creators update on Windows 10.

Workaround:

Our engineers are working on a solution for this issue.

Note:

The following workaround is for customers who are comfortable with modifying their registry. If these types of instructions are unfamiliar or confusing to you, please contact support for help: Contact Customer Care

  • Press the Windows and "r" key simultaneously to bring up the run window.
  • Type regedit and press enter.
  • Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Photoshop\120.0
  • Right click on 120.0 and create a new DWORD.

image001

  • Rename the DWORD value to "OverridePhysicalMemoryMB".
  • Right click on it and select modify.
  • Change the base value from "hexadecimal" to "decimal".
  • Change the value data from "0" to "24000".

image002

Note:

Take a backup of the registry, prior to making any changes.

Please let us know if issue persists.

Best Regards,

Amit Kaushal

I read in a different message that PS does create a crash log for itself but it's encrypted and only adobe can decrypt them. Kind of tells you something!!

I've been getting this exact same problem after the release of PS 2018. Performance settings cannot be read or accessed by PhotoShop, and Photoshop is stuck with a memory limit of 8 MB. I've tried to manually remove any Photoshop-related files the CC installer missed, but it turns out it's a general installation falure or driver problem. I haven't been able to figure out where exactly this problem lies, however I tried looking around for potential corruption in the registry, despite I can't spot any errors of what I know of.

Like other comments here, the prefs file cannot be reset to default in PhotoShop, and I get the exact same error as others when trying to access my Performance settings. I'm currently running Windows 10 1709, however I also had issues with Windows 10 1706.

CPU: i7-7700HQ @ 2801 Mhz, 4 cores, 8 threads

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060

Integrated Video Processor: Intel HD Graphics 630 (not really relevant, as it's not in use with PS)

RAM: 16 GB (+2.4 GB pagefile)

I'd love to hear if somebody finds a soulution! <3

go to control panel/administrative rights/event viewer/ windows logs/application and find the PS crash log.

select "copy as text" on the right and post it here.

Can you not understand we would like to see your Photoshop Preferences Performance.  Try going through all the preferences panels see if some how Photoshop fixes itself.  Also make sure your User ID file system permissions allows you User ID to write into you Photoshop Preferences folder and the you Preferences are being Updated.   Clearly you are having problems with your user id Photoshop Preferences.

A bug that seems to be unique to your machine which you de not post information about. You do not post screen captures of your problem or  cc 2018 menu help>system Info. What OS  version if it is up to date what device drivers.  You could try Adobe customer support they will want information about your machine and software.....

Hi

Repeat what you did in your last post but after clicking on OK in the error window - don't click OK in Preferences . Instead on the left click on "Performance".

Then take a screenshot

I run dual xeons and a quadro 4000 have no problem it seem you can open Photoshop but it does not work and you state you can not edit your Photoshop preferences.  You seem to have an installation problem.   You have posted  no screen captures.     Try removing Photoshop from your system download Adobe Cleaner and run it the install CC 2018.

Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems

I agree with JJMack

Also when you are done removing PS from your machine, reboot.

There appears to be a registry conflict with a dll file which windows cannot resolve.

now i tried it all

i removed the complete creative suite as admin with the cleaner tool

i removed every adobe folder from user

i killed every adobe entry in the registry

i rebooted my workstation

i reinstalled the with creative cloud Set-up

i reinstalled photoshop

so

in the end it seem to be a bug

it still has the same problem

He can simply delete "C:\Users\his user id\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2018"

True, I just don't like telling people to delete something as they might don't be computer savvy and delete the wrong thing making things worse. Just me though!

Then show what does pop up let us see what your problem is.  Any real pop up message. Also try resetting your Photoshop Preferences use the checkbox to reset your Photoshop Preferences closer and restart  Photoshop.  You need you preferences fixed.  You could also close Photoshop and delete your user ID Photoshop cc 2018 Application data tree.  When you start Photoshop  your user ID Photoshop CC 2018 Application data tree will be rebuilt.

He can't seem to be able to start Photoshop to get to the preferences to reset the ram usage. He needs to start Photoshop and before the program starts, hold Ctrl-shift-alt. that will clear whatever he has set in preferences.

Please post the image I requested what Preferende Preformance shows and the Photoshop memory error screen capture.  Your system info seems to show you have set Photoshop Performance to allow Photoshop to use 100% of your machine memory that is not a good idea....

Memory available to Photoshop: 8 MB

Memory used by Photoshop: 100 %

I do not want you to change the values I want to see the values in there.  Your system info looks very odd  The amount of memory does not seem to be correct in all area.

Physical processor count: 16

Logical processor count: 32

Processor speed: 2610 MHz

Built-in memory: 32717 MB

Free memory: 2 MB

Memory available to Photoshop: 8 MB

Memory used by Photoshop: 100 %

My system info looks correct

Physical processor count: 12

Logical processor count: 24

Processor speed: 1995 MHz

Built-in memory: 40886 MB

Free memory: 2 MB

Memory available to Photoshop: 36913 MB

Memory used by Photoshop: 90 %

It look like Photoshop may be allowed to use all  32 GB of ram it set to 100%   but also set to  8MB which is wrong.  That is way I want to see your Preference Performance panel.
