Photoshop causes computer to crash <title edited by moderator>

All last year (2023) and still this year despite having 64 Gb RAM and being able to multitask in previous years WITHOUT PROBLEMS I can't use Photoshop when I have premiere or encoder running without it invarably causing my computer to crash.

This is very unfortunate because after I finish editing in premiere I need to render. While I'm rendering I need to keep working and create a thumbnail for the video. Not being able to is extremely frustratiung. It's 2024 and I should be able to multi-task. This software is chronically and wrongfully overpriced and should be able to handle these very basic things on a very robust computer.

Please stop adding new features just to justify abusing us with this outrageous monthly fee until you can actually create a stable program. Please rightfully use the money we're giving you to properly beta test in real world scenarios instead of this half ass whatever you're doing.

It's mind blowing adobe asks us to "Be kind and respectful" while they're disrespectfully wasting our time, killing our inspiration, and essentially ripping us off. It's no wonder there's class action lawsuits against adobe and I am confident there will be more.

No, still "unknown"...sorry. Don't know what to suggest next, except wait for the engineers to figure this out.

The good news is that both OpenCL and OpenGL are on their way out, to be replaced by operating system-native DirectX APIs. Don't know when they'll be finished rewriting the entire Photoshop graphics codebase, though...

Thanks so much. I don't know what OpenCL is but I'll take your word for it and try. Although, every time in the past there's been a bug and it was assumed it was a driver, which was often, it ended up not being the driver. But, you're specifically pointing out something here so let's see if that at least changes after I do this. I'll repost the information again after I do. Thanks so much for your time!

No, not a problem if it isn't connected to anything.

As for the system info, I notice in the OpenCL section the driver is listed as "unknown". That could be the problem, it's clearly not properly recognized.

Now, it has to be said that we've seen quite a few problems specifically connected to the OpenCL component lately. Engineering is aware of it and they are actively investigating. If you do a search you should find a few threads about it, but I don't think they've reached any conclusions yet.

In the meantime, I'd do yet another driver reinstall - but this time, check custom and "perform a clean installation". This removes all traces of the old driver. Also, uncheck the extra components in the driver package, like GeForce Experience, Hyper X or whatever they're called. You don't need them.

As for this "Studio Driver" comment. I am using studio right now ironically enough. A while back I was using game ready though because adobe support team recommended it multiple times with previous bugs. I was like "but invidia literally made this studio driver for programs like this" but they said it isn't updated as quickly as the game drivers and some other reasons. But, just a couple months ago when I updated everything I switched back to studio. They've recommended game a at least a couple of times to me in the past. So, I kind of go back and forth... I did notice there's an update though. But, to be honest I'm afraid to update it. I may real quick though...

Thanks for putting up with me. The adobe bugs have been so stifling over the years. I've lost so much time dealing with the bugs over the years it's just heart breaking and I'm becoming very intolerant. I'll definitely be getting far away from this as soon as I can. But, it may be a while because I've already have so many projects started. My projects are several years long so it's just heart breaking as hell how trashy this software is for real world use. We're paying to be their beta testers and it's just wrong.
