Photoshop CC 2019 super slow

Hello guys,

since I have uploaded Photoshop from 2018 to 2019 I'm experiencing a super slow and laggy workspace.

I have never had this problem in 2018 version and I'm pretty upset to find this in 2019, it's so annoying that I can't even scale up or down a small image (like 2000x1000). I think I will go back to 2018...

I'm running a gtx 1070 (drivers 416.34), i7 6900k, 32gb of ram, samsung 970 pro ssd.

I have updated to 20.0.2 and I have to admit, this is the Photoshop I know (noticeable difference in performance), thanks Adobe!

I'm on Windows PC and I can agree, 2019 version is super slow! It even lags when duplicating layers with alt-drag or selecting a different tool. It freezes sometimes for a few secs (with spinning circle) for no reason. In comparison to the 2018 version it also works slower on documents with many layers.

I watched a YouTube Photoshop video that had absolutely nothing to do with Photoshop running slow, but since applying the tip tools respond immediately and other lagging issues seem to have gone away.

Go to Preferences>Tools and UNCHECK "Enable Flick Panning". Now this might something unique to my PC Windows 10 setup, but couldn't hurt to try.

My system does not seem to have a performance problem. Changing my Flick Panning preference does not seem to effect Photoshop overall performance at all on my machine. It may be helpful if toe provide details of your environment. Platform, Hardware, and software versions.

I've been experiencing some extreme lag with photoshop cc 2019 ever since I upgraded it couple weeks ago - it's just impossible to work with. I'm using wacom mobile studio pro, never had a lag issue with photoshop before (the very reason I got a top-tier machine). I tried all the different tips and tricks and nothing seemed to fix the brush lag. In the end I downgraded back to photoshop cc 2018 and now it's working so smooth and nice again.

I'll probably keep 2018 for couple months and then update it to check if the issue is fixed.

Fortunately downgrading is easy: you just uninstall 2019 and in the creative cloud panel you find the little arrow next to the photoshop app. Then click manage > other versions > choose the version below 20.0 (20.0 is cc 2019)

The version is now 20.0.1, if I'm not mistaken...the update to 2019 came out a few days after the problems and seemed to have fixed my lagging...

I hope it does yours, too...

Glad I'm not the only one.

2019 has been garbage since it came out. I do basic photo editing, max is around 10 layers at the most. Simply opening a RAW image then trying to use spot healing it can take 20 secs to spot heal around a 75px spot! It crashes so often it's not funny, I got used to saving changes after every single operation. Using DxO Nik filters, it would 100% always crash the first time you attempt to exit any filter.

My box is an 8-core, 32GB box with twin 760 GTX cards, not exactly a slouch. I have reset settings and tweaked the Performance settings as advised and no change. After a couple of weeks I simply gave up with 2019 and went back to 2018 and touch wood I've not had a single problem. DxO Nik Analogue Efex will crash once in a while but I can live with that over a crash after every operation in 2019. Although I made sure I submitted the bug reports everytime it crashed, so Adobe should have plenty of data from my setup in their bug collection/crash DB as it would crash minimum of 5 times an hour while I was using it!

Whomever did the QA for 2019 needs taking back to testing school, it's a mess and it has NOT been tested properly on a good range of hardware and software. Luckily we can go back 2018 but that's not why we pay Adobe tons of money every month for our subs.

Photoshop 20.0.1 is buggy and very slow. It is a shame how such unfinished version can even be released to the paying subscribers...

On top of experiencing some of your same issues, my PS can up to 20 seconds to QUIT (and file is small with a couple of layers) and have to wait a few seconds to TOOL to activate when clicking on its button. I would think that some members of the Adobe Photoshop staff are experiencing some of the same issues.

Yeah, Photoshop 2019 is really slow. Tried everything, even takes an age to respond when opening the application. V poor! Reverting back to old version

Try to modify preferences then performance , and check the ram options , cash levels and also if there is delay in working inside your files check the graphics processor settings .
