Question

Photoshop won't display Camera Data

I can see my Camera Data in Bridge, but not in Photoshop.  The File Info dialogs look similar, but in Photoshop, everything is blank.

Are the Photoshop JPEG saves missing the metadata when viewed in Bridge or Lr?

You may need to backup actions and other presets and then reset preferences to see if that restores the File Info to match Bridge.

When I open an HEIC file in Photoshop and then save as JPG, the Origin, and GPS metadata are lost, as confirmed in LR or Bridge or by viewing the File Properties in Windows Explorer.  I will try your suggestion of resetting preferences to see if it does any good.  Thanks for the response.

What were your results?

That is odd. I tried it with an iPhone 15 HEIC, and it seems to work as expected. The File Info / Camera Data panel below matches Bridge. I added a caption and keywords in Bridge, and they do appear in Photoshop as well, in the Basic and IPTC panels.

When you see blank metadata, is that for all File Info panels, or just a certain panel such as Basic, Camera Data, or Origin? Is there anything in the Raw Data panel?

Thanks for your response.  No metadata is shown in any panel, when I open HEIC files in Photoshop. When I open a JPG file, I see all available metadata (Basic, Camera Data, IPTC, GPS, etc.).  By the way, I am using Windows, and have installed the HEIF and HEVC extensions, so I don't think it's a Windows-specific issue. For now, I am converting HEIC to JPG in Lightroom, then opening in Photoshop, as a work-around.

Please read this (in particular the section titled "Supply pertinent information for more timely and effective answers”):

With which camera model did the RAW-files originate?

What happens when you open them from Bridge?

I'm sorry my original post was not clear.  I have since gathered new information. The problem is specific to metadata from HEIC files.

When I open HEIC files from an iPhone 12 or 13 in Photoshop, the photo displays correctly, but no metadata is visible in File Info. When I open the same HEIC files in Bridge, I can see the Date Taken and GPS info, but no Camera data.  When I open the same HEIC files in Lightroom, I see all metadata.  I found that the only way to retain all metadata while editing is to convert to JPG in Lightroom and then edit in Photoshop.  I find it frustrating that I can't simply open HEICs in Photoshop without losing the metadata.
