Please Check Your Internet Connection and Try Again

Everything was working fine, but now I am unable to use the generative fill feature in both Photoshop and Illustrator, as it says "Please check the internet connection and try again". Attaching the screenshot for your reference. Would be great if someone could help.

Thank you 🙂

Finally found a fix.

It seems Microsoft Defender is blocking Adobe Firefly, to fix that go to :

- Windows > Control pannel > Windows Defender > Advanced settings > Outgoing traffic rules

Search for "Adobe Unlicensed Popup" and authorize the connection.

Hope it helps.

Any fix for this yet?

@Sameer K I have the same problem with "general distractions". I get the same message, tried everything (internet connection speed and connectivity, DNS, VPN, antivirus, firewall etc.) but no luck. Photoshop Web does NOT offer this function, so Adobe have to check this, otherwise it's useless - at least for me on both win11 machines - a desktop PC and a laptop.

Hey, @Pikros. Thanks for the comment. I've checked your account, and you have an individual subscription. While this thread has been active with people having subscriptions from institutions, and IT-managed machines.

Please share a video of the issue and the system info from Photoshop Help > System Info. Copy and paste it into a text document, then upload and attach it here. Does this happen with any specific layers or layer structure?

Also, check if the issue appears in Photosho (beta) via the Creative Cloud desktop app.

Thanks!

This usually isnt your actual internet connection. Generative Fill needs to reach Adobe’s Firefly services, so a firewall, VPN, proxy, or security rule can cause this message even when everything else online works. If you’re on Windows, check Windows Defender Firewall → Advanced settings → Outbound Rules and look for an Adobe rule such as Adobe Unlicensed Popup that may be blocking the connection. This has fixed the same Generative Fill error for other users. Also try temporarily disabling any VPN/third-party firewall and testing Photoshop through a phone hotspot. If it works there, you know the problem is somewhere in the original network or firewall rather than Photoshop itself.

Fix not working for me as it doesn’t have “Adobe Unlicensed Popup” or anauthorised rules

As soon as I turned off my VPN, it worked again.

Hey I've had this issue for a while. Thank you for providing a solution. Would you be able to give me further details? Got to advanced settings but don't see anywhere outgoing traffic rules or where to go from there. I'd appreciate so much if you could screenshot for me.

Hey, @d_7239. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. I reviewed the account you used to log in and found an active EDU subscription.

If an IT team manages the device, ensure all the Adobe Network endpoints are whitelisted: https://adobe.ly/3STmkga

You can also try using Photoshop Web (https://adobe.ly/3WkhVFm) on a different/alternate device & internet network to rule out that it is a network issue.

Let me know how it goes. Thanks!

Same here from few days. Firefly website also doesn't work.

I haven't been able to solve the generative fill problem for a week. Nothing has changed, although there were no prerequisites for this. All the methods I've tried haven't helped. I have a subscription, an internet connection, and a Windows computer. I think the problem is on Adobe's side.

The program loads the options, but at the last moment it issues a message about the lack of connection.

I am also having this problem on Photoshop 2025 on Mac OS. Scoured the web and don't see any solutions for Mac, only for Windows. My internet connection is very good, so it's not that.

Hi @silveryblu

I’m really sorry for the inconvenience you’re facing. If you’re currently on Wi-Fi, try switching to a mobile network to help rule out any connectivity issues.

If that doesn’t help, I’d recommend trying to log in using Safe Mode and see if the issue persists there. This can help identify whether something in your system environment is causing the problem.

Safe mode Windows: https://adobe.ly/4muuLM2

Safe mode MAC: https://adobe.ly/3FgwLXw

Let me know how it goes—I'm here to help!

Regards.

Thank you Srishti. That seems like a pretty extreme solution though, just for Photoshop to work correctly!

I did find that if I switch to using my phone's personal hotspot as my network (over BlueTooth), then Photoshop generative AI works perfectly. This is a bit silly as I have a very fast WiFi network. But I guess I'll just do that while I'm working on that type of thing. Still, I think Adobe has some work to do here.
