Poor quality AI results

I have to say that the results I get from generative fill in photoshop are absolutely terrible. Why is adobe including a poor quality function? Not only do the image results look unrealistic but the reults are in low resolution, so absolutely no use whatsoever to a print designer. Might be fun for someone trying out photoshop for personal use, but when I pay a lot of money for a professional application and it includes a function that is dreadful then there is big problem in my opinion. Can adobe either make functions that work to a high standard or drop the monthy subscription price to reflect how poor AI is.

    It is now 2026 and it’s like the AI in Photoshop is the village idiot.  I have an image where I’ve added canvas to the left and right and I just want the existing background to be extended.  I say “Continue the wall lamp and curtain from the right side of the selection and continue the wood texture background”
    It gives me something passable.  I select the empty canvas on the right and tell it “continue the wood texture background” and I get completely different wood textures - like log cabin and tree rings.  Then I get irritated and just copy the wall texture it already made and drop it into the area...flatten the image and select the new part saying “adjust the lighting on this section of the background” and the thing literally adds a lamp, a recessed light, and random electrical cables…..Hey Adobe...get with OpenAI and use ChatGPT for your internal AI source instead of trying to create your own.  The one you are using now is so bad it’s embarrassing.

    7/2025 here, AI in Ps still feels like a meme 😉 Unfortunately, Adobe was super late to the AI party back then and still lags behind almost everyone else (incl. self-created applications you can find on GitHub created by smart coders that work way better). Personally, I don't use it and prefer the good ol' classics like Dall-E or Midjourney.

      You wrote this a year ago and it's still as bad as it ever was. I just don't get it! So disappointing!

        Don't know if they will, but I'm happy to.

        To be perfectly blunt, it doesn't follow prompts. It may follow parts of a prompt at its discretion, but it never comes out as written. Thinking this might be possible user error, I fed the same prompts into various other generative models, all but two of which produced exactly what I wrote. (They weren't stellar, to be clear. But they WERE what I asked for.)

        To be super clear, AI in Photoshop is possibly the worst software experience one could have. It is shameful that it is let out, a clear sign of greed to let people think something exists.

          Victor, you need to be specific.  Photoshop has used Ai in multiple ways for some years now with the various Sensei enhanced functions.   I agree that Generative Fill can be challenging to use, but the much improved selection and cleanup tools are sensationally good.  We can work much faster than we could ten years ago, and so more accurately with much better results.
