Something for the Weekend - Part 241 - Time and Tide....

Hi,

Thanks to all who took part in our last, 'Prickly Issue', challenge. We had a great range of entries with both still images and animations.

'Time and tide wait for no man', says the old proverb. So for this week, I bring you a picture of Staithes, a lovely village on the North Yorkshire coast of England. Can you show us what it might look like when the tide retreats?

The “rules”:

  • Use the starter image as at least part of your own image entry.
  • Anything goes, as long as it meets the forum rules on decency, copyright, etc.
  • Anyone, and everyone, is welcome to have a go, whether you are a complete beginner or a Photoshop expert. This is not just for our forum “regulars”.
  • There are no prizes apart from the chance to practice, show off your skills, or bring a bit of humor and fun. Don't be shy, join in and have a go!
  • The starter image is made available for you to use in this forum challenge only.

To download the starter image, hover over the image and click on the circle with the arrows at the top right. Then, when the image opens in its own window, right click and choose “Save Image As/Save Target As” (or similar depending on your browser).

When posting back your image — please use the blue reply button in this first post and use the 'Insert Photos' icon at the top of the reply box. If posting a comment on someone else’s entry, then please use the grey reply button next to their image post.

Have fun!

Dave

I love it. The time advanced rather than retreated! 🙂

Haha - the spaceship is scary, but the guy in the corner looks friendly! 🙂

Dave, you need Baby Yoda when you want to take the cute factor to eleven.

You say that's a space ship?  This guy has an opinion on that.

Can someone put me out of my missery and identify the aircraft?  I'm not especially into light aircraft, (except that I won't be getting in one any time soon, or any helecopter made by Robinson).  I think it is a twin spar tail dragger, obviously high wing, and a single — probably piston — engine.  I don't think it is a Piper or Cessna because they have the center landing gear at the front.  Other models look close, but have a vent under the engine cowl that this doesn't have.  There must be a light aircraft fan who put a name to it.

BTW The last time I was in a light aircraft was in a float plane out of Picton (Queen Charlotte Sound).  I was sitting next to the pilot in what had to be a _very_ old plane for a weekend stay at the lodge (image below).  I could see nothing out of the front as we climbed, which made me assume that nor could the pilot.  Unfortunately, he flew uber close to the mountainside as he climbed to make use of the uplift or ground effect (I don't know).  I felt like I could reach out and touch that hillside.  Thankfully, the journey back was less frightning as there was no mountainside to make use of.

A couple of months later he stuffed up the landing and sunk the floatplane.  A freek gust of wind?  Yeah, right!

The lodge later used my picture in a posh magazine article about the lodge.  If we ever go back, it will be by water taxi

Based on the exceptionally skinny "landing gear," it's either an RC plane in not-very-good shape or it's genAI. EIther way, it's loosely based on a Cessna 152.

It does too! 🙂  If you squint, you can see a little fat Bhuda sitting in front of the three pillars (of wisdom).

I'm imagining being in that tiny wheelhouse on that small boat in heavy North Sea weather, and I'm already feeling seesick.  The best people I know for handling rough wether are Safe Haven Marine. They make boats that 'have' to be able to go out regardless, like lifeboats and pilot boats, and there' nothing they like more than a huge storm so they can go out and test their boats in it.
