Question

Elements Organizer help says I can create an album directly from a file folder. Directions don't work; program "sees" only a few of two dozen files. Do I have to import them all before this can be used?.

On hard disk I have a folder “Animals” with sub-folders e.g. “Kitties,” “Birds,” “Mammals,” etc. I want to create an Album for each of these. Directions in online Help say:

*choose folder from My Folders list;

*right click folder, select “Create instant album.” thumbnails should appear. But only 3 or 4 out of 25 or so appear;

How to make this work to include all photos?

    Common Reasons Organizers Fail to Display Images

    • Excessive Pixel Dimensions: Many programs (like Adobe Elements) have maximum pixel limits, such as blocking images larger than 30,000 x 30,000 pixels. [1]
    • Specialized or Panoramic Formats: Panoramas generated by smartphones or heavily layered files (like large, multi-layer .psd or .tiff files) often fail to generate thumbnails or open properly in standard browsing grids. [1, 2, 3]
    • Missing File Paths: If photos are moved outside of the organizer (using Windows Explorer or Mac Finder) rather than inside the app itself, the organizer breaks the link and displays a generic icon or question mark instead of the image. [1, 2]
    • Hidden or "Locked" Files: Many photo apps offer security or privacy settings. For example, photos stored in a secure "Locked Folder" (on apps like Google Photos) are intentionally removed from the main grid view and will not display. [1, 2]
    • Corrupt Cache: Occasionally, an organizer's background task for creating thumbnails gets stuck, or its internal cache file becomes corrupted, which prevents the images from loading in the media grid
