Not enough memory (RAM) PSE14

Hi, I've been using PSE14 for a few years now and haven't had any major issues. Tonight, my surface pro required an update and once completed, PSE14 does not seem to be working the same. Upon opening, I receive the error message, "could not complete the command because there is not enough memory (RAM)." I've read into ways to fix this by going to edit > preferences > performance, though when I click 'performance' I receive another error message, "An integer between 50 and 8 is required. Closest value inserted." I do not know how to fix this, and would greatly appreciate any help please! Thank you.

I've just upgraded from elements 12 to 2018 because the organiser in 12 won't work with Windows 10. Now the organiser in 2018 works but can't save my photos because it says there isn't enough RAM. the only solution is to use the new organiser and the old editor!! Crazy.

    My PSE12 organizer works fine in Windows 10 (as well as PSE6, PSE10, 14, 15 and 2018).

If you have read other posts in the present discussion, you know that microsoft created the issue with its Win 10 1803 update.

Read all the posts in this discussion.

Edit the registry and be happy.

For PSE12, more details would be required to suggest solutions.

I've got to say that I'm extremely disappointed in Adobe for not having a downloadable update for Photoshop.
If Microsoft can make changes, then Adobe should have enough programmers and programming power to make the update.
It should be as simple as opening the product and being asked if you want the Adobe Photoshop Update, click on 'Yes' and be back in business.

Surely they can't still be out there hawking this program and selling it to people knowing it won't work!?

I chatted with 'Account Management' support as a way to get to chat to a real live person.
    Contact Customer Care
You need to have your serial Number ready (find it in your online account under Plans and Products)
I suggest that anyone who has this issue do the same.
Ask them to move the complaint up to senior management.
They did suggest I pay another $100 CDN to upgrade to 15.
    Anyway, no, no resolution.

Upgrading doesn't solve the problem (they should know that.)  I had the same issue with Elements 15 and people are reporting it with Elements 18.  Adobe needs to fix this.

Agreed. I’m not bad with technology but going into registry and reconfiguring my computer in 21-25 ‘easy’ steps is NOT a fix. ADOBE needs to send some sort of update to fix this.

Also, why does it fall to the users to fix ADOBE’S problem!?

    This is pretty pathetic.
They've known about this issue now for a couple of months.
Why should I continue to pay for a product that no longer works!?

Was it broken by the last Microsoft update?

I think so, I never had any problem with it before :-(

This "work around" is not good enough.  Adobe needs to fix this for all versions of Photoshop, and do it ASAP.  Their failure to fix the issue is unprofessional.

I also hope that an Adobe update will address this issue for Photoshop Elements, as it has been addressed and fixed for Photoshop.

Thank you very much for reaching out to me.

After giving the suggested edit of the win 10 registry (and learning how to

backup the registry I needed to change) much thought, I followed the

instructions and am able to successfully use elements 2018.

I'm embarrassed to have failed to post my success after following the

    reported solution.

I will add this information to the orginal post.

Thanks again for both your help and your willingness to share your

knowledge with those of us less technically skilled.

    Sincerely,

    Jim Pullin Sr.

    thank you for your answer.

    Ichanged the registrey as expained.

The error message *Could not complete your request because there is not

enough memory (RAM) * does not appear again.

the organizer is working, but the photo editor cannot start.

The drial version elements 2018 does work : that means my computer fulfills

Having exactly the same problem. Just happened after last Windows update - won't save a file because not enough RAM and when I go to preferences>performance, I'm told that "an integer between 96 and 8 is required. Closest value inserted". Photoshop then hangs and I have to use Task Master to close it down.

It's useless as it is at the moment.

I have been using Elements 15 without any problems and all of a sudden can't save photos because "there is not enough memory (RAM)".  I upgraded to Photoshop Elements 2018 and have the same problem.  What is the problem?  Solution?  The program is not much use to me if I can't save photos after reworking them.

Thank you! I have used the Elements programs for years and like them.

This glitch with windows and elements was very frustrating but your

proposed fix worked and I can now use the new Elements 2018 without the

annoying "not enough memory (RAM)". Thanks again, HJP

Other than altering the registry, are there no other ways to solve this? Are Adobe aware of this issue and has anything been mentioned about it? Thanks.

With the number of posts in this forum and in the feedback one about those issues, they must be aware of them.

Similar problems have been reported in the feedback forum for Photoshop CC three months ago (before the Windows update) and Adobe immediately acknowlegded the issue and gave the workaround. They told they were working on it, but the new Photoshop CC releases don't seem to give a fix. I have not seen specific feedback for Elements.

Anyway, if they find a fix for Elements, it will be for PSE2018 only if they provide an update before the next PSE2019 version...

Unless Microsoft solves its problem soon, I would use the registry solution now.
