Photoshop Elements 2020 (Organizer) crashes on backup.

When I want to make a (full) backup with the Organizer, the program crashes. The message is that Elements Organizer prepares the backup ...

The size of the files that are needed, is apparently 1,5 TB, while my external drive has 2,7 TB. What can I do?

contributions. He suspected that the size of the backup could be a possible factor. So he suggested a restore with a small test catalog in the same destination. I did do that on an external drive and it was succesfull.  Apart from that, I've also tried to optimize and recover the original catalog. Also I tried a recovery. All 3 attemps didn't work. So what can I do now?
