Photoshop elements 2025 crashes on print command

Need help. Photoshop Elements 2025 crashes when I click the print command to print a photo. Doesn't show a print screen at all, just thinks a bit and crashes. It worked fine  the day I installed it on my new Windows 11 computer until about a week ago. I was able to print photos with no problem. Need to know what happened and what to do. From what I read online I'm not the only person having this problem. I've used Photoshop and Photoshop Elements for many years and have never had a problem like this before.

Well I solved it thks to a bit of external help. In my case, I really needed to restart from scratch, like total scratch, torched earth approach

  • check all windows update (including those in “Advanced settings”. Update everything that moves….
  • restart
  • go to configuration management. Check under PRINTERS. Delete the printer entry as well as what remains (IPP something entry) (I included a RESTART between the 2 deletes by mistake. One should be enough)
  • Restart
  • Go to your printer’s manhfacturer web site. Download the printer driver you need. Once downloaded, extract the file. Then execute the .EXE file you need (x64 or x80) (there are 2 .EXE files only, don worry (I did))
  • Restart
  • Add your printer in the SYSTEM/PRINTER windows
  • Normally this should be it Otherwise, Restart and try again. If this does not work, I cant help you :-(

Well…

After printing an image and 20mns later a pdf document, the problem returned.

Oh well….

But this time, it does print in Organizer. It behaves normally until the final PRINT is pressed. Then it returns home and… nothing happens.

Not fun

Had no problem with printing for the past 15 years.

Suddenly PSE crashes when is select “Print”.

Tried all mentionned recipes. Nothing works (but printing from Organizer does work).

This is very disagreeable.

Is there a solution other than buying something I dont need (PSE 2026)?

Same issue here.

Drivers all up to date, preferences reset, other apps print with no problem, everything’s fine except Photoshop Elements crashes when I choose “Print”

Hi, I am now having the same issue. Elements 2025 with HP Envy 6132e printer wirelessly connected.  If this is the default printer, then Elements crashes as soon as I select File | Print. I have tried all the things suggested, updates, resetting preference etc but still the same. If I switch the default printer to print to PDF Elements does not crash and the print dialog opens. It does seem that Elements is the issue and the problem is that it can no longer print to wireless printers.

Look slike I will have to switch back to Affinity!

It might be a Windows permissions issue. Please check this thread:

Kind regards

Issue is resolved. Adobe said I cancelled Photoshop Elements 2025 which I did not do. They refunded my money for Photoshop Elements 2025 and I purchased Photoshop Elements 2026. All is good at the moment.

I began having the same issue re Ekements crashing about a week ago.  I upgraded to 2026 and it appears Elements is no longer crashing when attempting to print.

It looks as though it never ends! Today when I opened Photoshop Elements 2025 it said my subscription had been suspended. I was to click the button that said "reactivate account." Only problem is Adobe couldn't find that site. Organizer still works fine in Elements, but working with photos is non-functional. I'm about to ask for a refund of the money I paid to Adobe for a 3 year subscription to Photoshop Elements 2025. Any more problems and I'm going to delete this program. It is most frustrating!

After a week of waiting for help from Adobe. I called back when they let me know that they closed my case. It took 5½ hours pon the phone for them to resolve this issue.

I have found a temporary workaround for this issue. You have to install the trial version of Photoshop 2026. It still gives the connection error, but you can print. Just wait for it. It still needs work and is tricky. The trail runs out in days. Will see then. It seems several tools had ben crashing before the printer, and also thecdreaded auto analyzer is running in the background trying to find cloud. (I disabled my cloud and put all my stuff on a portable drive, and save files to that also. I think only partly it has something to do with Windows 11 and their terrible AI tools like Copilot seeming to be incompatable with Photoshop. When I blocked the anayzer in settings, the 2026 version does print! It still thinks the printer drivers are off, which they're not, and tries to make a shortcut to another printer, so check that too. Whatever Adobe is using for analyzer and for picture storage is trying to save the pictures on the cloud too. It is confused and crashes if you do that. It's not on the user's end. It's definitely a bug in the installed app. It's also a neat way for Adobe to skip that 3 year thing and make you buy next year's before it's been tested. The 2025 program should be good until 2028. I', not an IT guy, but I talked to some, and that seems like the case. Also the ads for other features all over the upload menu for the programs seems a hog of memory. The end user should be able to make the choice if they want the next thing. I am weary of putting all 2026 on there until you work the bugs out. Seems the AI helper is really annoying and unncessary too. (Using expert mode). The connection printer dialog does wanr you upon opening, which suggests it is a compatibility with Adobe's app, not with the PC. (It's not a Mac). Hope this helps.

The ad for try the new ai generated vr tools in in video editing in photoshop elements 2026, or something like that, pops on the main photoshop elements screen when you pull it up. That is about when all this started happening. Suppose the bug is in the AI that claims to be helping. How about don't include all that. No wonder it's a memory hog. But that's not crashing the computer. No, it's just the print option in photoshop 2025. It crashes immediately. Help. Do I need to upgrade to 2026 to make a simple feature work? Printing should be basic. Surely you must all know it's a bug at this point.

I had another clue. The program was doing that prompt every time upon opening it. Before this seris of crashes, it was crashing trying to use the simple healing brush and eraser tool too much. It seems not connected, but it could be. Whatever bug is in the app coding starts with larger AI assist functions, like that healing brush. Also the Widnows 11 updates try to monkey with printer settings. This could be temporarily patched with reinstalling a printer, but then the program remembers it was the glitch and adds it. Crash again. Reinstall Photoshop itself. Crash at print again. AI extras were added to it at the same time crashes happened. Can you stop using AI? It seems to be the feature, not the bug, but it's also the bug.
