Recently my computer failed and I lost all programs. When I try to install Photoshop Elements on new computer error message states serial number in use. The serial number is not in use as the computer disk drive with original install on is corrupted..

Adobe employees can no longer reset activations.

The only way to recover an activation is on a working computer with an up-to-date operating system and security so that it can connect to Adobe servers.

You could optionally upgrade to PSE 2026 for $20 off as a previous user.  It’ll include Organizer and a 3 year license.  Download the 7 day Free Trial and see what you think.  Find System Requirement details right here.

@visual_Skylinefd73 Even though your old computer is corrupted, Photoshop Elements stayed activated on that machine. This is where you are caught in a Catch-22: because the drive is corrupted, you can’t deactivate it normally, so Adobe’s system still thinks the serial number is in use. When you try to install on your new computer, it blocks the activation.

You’ll need Adobe employees to reset the activation on their end. I would suggest that you post this under the Download and Install forum and ask them to clear the activation count for your Photoshop Elements serial number. Once they reset it, you’ll be able to install and activate on your new computer without any issues.

As per @Anubhav M message in a different post, as stated and pinned, you best bet is post there versus this channel: Please visit the Download & Install community board to post your query.

Adobe no longer can no longer reset any activation.  That policy changed in June of 2024.
