Still not fixed on my PSE 14

I have followed the guidance to correct 'lack of memory' problem given in the PSE FAQs and I still have the problem that I can't execute even the most simple tasks because the memory isn't  sufficient. I have entered 4096 as I have 4GB RAM into the 'decimal' box of the  new 'Override' file for PSE 14. The Preferences show no change to 8MB  and 100% and 'Default Reg-SZ' file remains empty. I did get the '50-8' error report but that#'s morphed to 'not enough memory so not sure why the '50-8' is the given problem as I'm not directed to enter any number in between may be that's my mistake but I can't see where that number range appears other than the RAM Preferences in PSE 14 Help menu. Any advice would be welcome. Thanks GoG

First, you should not enter 8 MB (they are GigaBytes) but 8 000 MB.

Second, never assign 100% in the preferences, that leaves no space for the operating system.

Could you copy and post the first 12 lines of the dialog you get with the menu Help >> System Info?

    Like this:

    Adobe Photoshop Elements Version : 16.0 (20170902.m.113423)  x64

    Système d'exploitation : Windows 10 64 bits

Version : 10 ou version supérieure

Architecture du système : UC AMD Famille :15, modèle : 0, niveau : 1 avec MMX, SSE Entier, SSE FP, SSE2, SSE3, SSE4.1, SSE4.2, AVX

Nombre de processeurs physiques : 4

Vitesse du processeur : 1797 MHz

    Mémoire intégrée : 5816 Mo

    Mémoire libre : 2408 Mo

Mémoire disponible pour Photoshop Elements : 5470 MB

Mémoire utilisée par Photoshop Elements : 70 %

If the value of available RAM for Elements (here 5470 MB) has not changed, the registry edit was not applied.

As far as I know, the MB value can be different from the real one. If I choose 8 000 instead of 6 000 for my physical 6 GB, the workaround works the same.

    Edit:

You should not apply 100% in the preferences, the default 70% should be ok.
