Tagging existing photos in photo collection

I am looking to purchase PE2020 as I am really interested in the photo organizing through AI in PE2020. Once I purchase and log the software, is there a way to organize and tag the pictures already on my computer or will it only work for new photos being added in?

Do you already have a catalog from a prior version?  If not, media analysis will be conducted on all photos that you add to a catalog, whether the photos are already stored on your computer or not.
