3 Bugs with Premiere Pro CC 2017 dynamic linking to audition/memory leak, dragging, replacing font

I started a new thread, rather than replying to the other thread about dynamic linking to audition, because I wanted to discuss 3 things that are bugging me about the most recent version of PP CC 2017.  The last thing you said to me in the other thread ...You asked me if I used plural eyes - that would be a no.

#1, (DYNAMIC LINKING AND MEMORY LEAK) We were discussing the dynamic linking in another forum post, I said I had already gone through the trouble shooting process with customer service with remote desktop and you asked if I wanted to escalate it further. For the moment I'm going to hold off but I may reply in a few days to that question. I saw somewhere that if you uninstall and reinstall the creative cloud app, it may alleviate any problems you have. I did do a "repair" to the creative cloud app and I haven't tested the dynamic link yet, because I have a few corrections I need to do to the file I'm working in.   But I think there is a bigger issue with this and that is a memory leak, which seems to have been a problem in the past wth the cc when I searched it.

#2, (DRAGGING WITHIN PP) I do work on a desktop MAC that was put together by my son a few years ago it has 2 Dell monitors.  One of my monitors I just changed out in December. And recently my ability to drag within Premiere pro was not working. It had me completely stumped for several days.  I read somewhere on this forum a random fix - to drag the window to the other monitor and back. I also read that there was a problem if you had a particular type of monitor, which I don't have. So that is a pain in the ass. What's up? I drag pp to the other window and back again and it works again. But sometimes I have to do it every few minutes. It's just stupid.

#3, (FONT REPLACEMENT) A continual problem I've had since cc started is ...if for some reason my cc app isn't logged in when I open premiere pro it replaces all my custom fonts from my Adobe Library with courier.  If I don't realize it and save it I'm screwed, I have to go through my entire freaking project again and fix all the titles.  This sucks. There should be a way that after the project finds the missing font, that you can log back in and it will relocate the original font that was desired. But this isn't what it does. it replaces it and warns you that it has replaced it and done.

Thank you for all your suggestions.   I'm very frustrated because episode 1 of my docuseries is very close to picture lock. I am just putting some finishing touches on it.  I did what you said I created a new project and imported the project.

I opened my file and did a few edits, saving after each one because it is so unstable I don't want to lose my work. 3rd edit I did it locked up. I get about 10 minutes of work and its over. But guess what? this time it actually gave me an error. It has something to do with dragging the clip.

PS you need to make it so this forum accepts .tiff files because every screen grab I do I have to open in photoshop and convert to jpg. It's a real pain.

Dynamic Link: As I've said before I've trouble shooted this like crazy before I complained.  I've already done the uninstall premiere pro and audition a long time ago. I just did an update on my MAC and I'll let you know if that helps at all but I've already done an entire list of stuff.

Thanks for the suggestion on Dragging - I switched ports on my monitors and I'm not sure if it helps yet because Premiere or other adobe products keep locking up my computer. If it still happens later on I'll let you know.

I'm using the Adobe fonts from the creative cloud app, where I thought they were added to your library but apparently, they are only connected online... what?

Stability - all day long I'm dealing with this (below) all FREAKING day long. Yes it is a large file, It's my docu series - yes I've been using the same file for a long time but converted/upgraded with new versions, but there are over 19 hours of footage that I need to reference including stock footage. (which I have the program and assets and cache spread out on different hard drives) Sometimes all I do is drag a clip audio or video longer,  and it locks up, perpetual spinning wheel.  I have to save every few minutes so I don't lose everything. I like premiere and have a lot invested in premiere but this is unbearable.  THIS ALL STARTED a month or 2 ago. But the updates aren't usually backward compatible so I don't want to revert or I'll lose a bunch of work.

Hi,

It sounds like your project is on the verge of corruption if it is not already corrupt. What is the file size of the project? One thing that could help your performance issue is to create a brand new project and import the older project into it. Does that help?

Thanks,
Kevin

251.2 mb - I guess I can try that. ...Will I lose anything? Is it pretty self explanatory?

Hi Hdaistudentpdx,

Sorry for your continuing issues. Let take each one as a separate issue.

  1. Dynamic Link: See if this post might solve your issue: Re: Premiere 2017 and Adobe Audition dynamic link not working
    1. Unintall Premiere Pro and Audition
    2. Reinstall the applications, Premiere Pro first.
  2. Dragging: Try making sure that the monitor playing back the Program Monitor and Timeline are being fed by the main port serviced by the GPU. The secondary monitor should be used only for the bin and the Project panel. I heard this was a current issue, and it sounds a little odd, but as one who has built and did troubleshooting for NLE performance over decades, this used to be one of the first things we checked.
  3. Fonts: Hmm, that sounds odd. Are you using LiveFonts? I was able to reconnect to my fonts once logging back in. Let me see if I can reproduce that issue.
  4. Stability: What do you mean "unstable." Do you mean that you're crashing? It sounds like the media in your timeline is not very optimized or your project contains too many media objects. Could that be the case? I rarely crash any more on average sized projects.

Let us know what you find after trying these troubleshooting steps.

Thanks!
Kevin

There is another problem too, Premiere Pro is so unstable that I have to save every few minutes so I don't lose my work. It's annoying because since it is such a large file, I'm working in it takes like 1 to 2 minutes each time and really throws off my flow.
