All actions using text-based editing not working in Premiere Pro

It's a bug in the current Release version PR 24.0.0 and in the Beta. There have been other reports, but there was some confusion, so I filed a new report today:

Hello, I have been trying to select and highlight text in this new AI beta system. I am working on a MAC When I select a small portion of a clip to add to the timeline the software system chooses the entire interview. I asked one of your colleagues, Kenneth about this last Wednesday. He said he would escalate to the BETA people. I've not heard back. This is extremely frustrating. I would really like to use this technology. It was highly touted at MAX, but doesn't work. Any suggestions?

Yes, I see the problem.

First, see "What Keyboard shortcuts...." on this page:

If you have nothing else selected and do a search, you can use Shift+Right arrow to select and set in/out markers. And use lift/extract buttons in the transcript or insert/overwrite depending on the type of editing you are doing.

But as soon as you have something selected, I see no way other than clicking in the transcript to set the position for the next in/out selection.

Is the automatic set in and out points supposed to set and in and out ariound what you are searching for? Or is it just what you select yourself?  I ask because if you search for text, it would be great if it automatically assumed an in & out point so you could just cut & paste. As it is now it's VERY hard to see what you've selected because the searched text is highlighted in a bright peachy-pink and re-selecting the search text doesn't change it's colour. Only a faint "spill" of blue around it.

@Alexander_DVA has it.

That button is a bit challenging because you have to look at the square background of the button to see whether it is on or off. I'd like it better if the icon itself was whiter when it is on. But I leave it on all the time.

The Text-Based editing has a learning curve, but it is a fantastic tool.

From your screen recording it looks like you have disabled to option to automatically set in and out points in the header: "{}"-Button.

Enabling it will let you use the editing features again. The option is meant for use cases where someone wants to only use the transcript for correction or navigation without risking to set in/out points accidentially

Update: the text-based editing seems to be fixed in the new Premiere Pro beta
