Can't Copy and Paste Sequences in Project Bin (Premiere Pro)

Ever since the 2024 update of Premiere Pro, I can't copy and paste sequences.

I've gone to Edit > Paste and for some reason 'paste' is greyed out. I've tried the shortcuts and they produced no results either. I'm able to make a new sequence and paste items into that sequence but I can't copy and paste the sequence itself.

Is this a bug or am I missing something?

Adobe Premiere Pro 24.0.0

Mac OS 14.0

I've attached a video as a reference.

Right click and choose Duplicate instead of copy and paste.

Still an issue in most recent version of 24, as well as 25. Cannot copy and paste from separate sequence of mixed media (footage, titles, nests) with any sort of nested footage on the clipboard.

In my testing, last stable version of Premiere without this issue is 24.2.1

This is current as of January 14, 2025. Will continue to check back as new versions are released.

Updating that it's working, re-installed and cleared preferences afterwards. Back in business. Had done this on previous versions but not on most recent ones.

I have been using Premier Production for a while. Multilple people are working on same Project. We share edited projects between us. Out of one machine the sequences are neither able to copy nor paste. But the same sequence transferred to another machine as a project with same premier version it was able to copy and paste.

Premier Pro version 24.6.1 (Build2)

The working copy paste machine is

Apple M2 Pro

16GB memory

macOS Sonoma - Version 14.5 (23F79)

Not working copy paste machine is

Apple M2 MAX

32GB memory

macOS Sonoma - Version 14.5

Interesting. Having copy and paste issues too. Here's my system:

Apple M1 Max

64GB memory

macOS Sonoma - Version 14.4.1

Still an issue in 24.5, I'm unable to copy and paste multiple elements from one timeline to the next. The culprit has been narrowed down to sequences.

New, old, duplicated timelime... doesn't matter. Premiere does not reliably copy/paste, insert, or duplicate/paste to target/same track.

Updating for 24.6, still not working. Copy and paste from other timelines/projects still not possible in regards to timelines. Mixed media stays in the translucent, drag-and-drop "paste" stage and the target timeline becomes unusable.

Alright. I believe I have a solution.

Check to make sure that there isn't anything you believe would be corrupt in your timeline.
What solved it for me, was taking out a music track that I had used the "remix" tool on. For whatever reason, the track premiere created post remix was corrupt.  I took it out and - BOOM, worked totally fine again.

Check to see if there is anything like that, or would potentially be corrupt, and take it out. Then try copying/pasting again.

I hope this works for you.

I've got a remixed track in a wedding sequence and thought I had lost over 5 hours of work. Thanks for the heads up!

I am also having the same issue on version 24.0.1 -  Certain sequences will copy, others won't.
It is very annoying

Still the same issue here on mac osx with all updates applied as of 12/18/23. It's been this way through a few of the most recent updates. Copy/paste timelines in the bin still seems to be randomly working. I've had it work, then stop working in the same project. I often duplicate timelines and have always used the copy/paste in the bin and rename it. I would be fine with using duplicate if there was a way to do a keyboard shortcut. I tried to create one in the shortcut manager area, but it isn't an available function that I can find. Right clicking and selecting duplicate is a fair amount slower than being able to have a quick keyboard shortcut (not sure if it's my imaginiation, but it seems like the right click menu randomly changes and items are in different places thought app(s)). Hopefully the copy/paste will be something they will be able to address in an update.

This is still unresolved and broken. Ridiculous Adobe.

I'm having the same problem on Windows 11 with the latest version 24.0.0

This is especially annoying, as I'm using the Ctrl-D shortcut for something else, so using "duplicate" isn't an option for me. I can copy and paste everything in my timeline. I can copy and paste videos, images etc. in my project window. I can't copy and paste compositions in my project window. When I select a composition and either right click -> copy or press Ctrl+C, the paste option is either greyed out or it pastes what ever video/image etc. I last copied.

When I select a comp and press Crtl X (or right click -> cut) however, I can paste the comp. I could do so multiple times, so there's a workaround but come on Adobe, this is beyond embarassing! No wonder everyone is switching to DaVinci right now.

PS: Cut (ctrl+x) works on videos and Comps, it doesn't work on audio files. FUN!

Never noticed the duplicate option, so much easier and it worked! Cheers.
