Enhance Speech has somehow gotten worse? Samples attached

I have noticed over the past few months that Enhance Speech/Adobe Podcast has not been able to fix audio nearly as good as before a few months ago. When I first used it, I had an audio clip taken from a cellphone on a school bus and the Adobe Podcast made it sound infinitely better. My mind was blown by how good it was.

 

I took the same original audio clip and used the new Enhance Speech and now I can't even turn the setting above 3. It actually made the audio worse by introducing weird AI-sounding noises and did not remove any reverb or background noise. 

 

Check the attachments to see the reference audio samples. It's a clear day and night difference between the new and old versions of Enhance Speech. 

 

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this.

    Enhance feature has stopped doing anything useful since when it was introduced. It did used to work and now nothing. There has been a decrease in functionality accross the board and Adobe seriously needs to fix a lot.  and stop updates every month. Don't see the improvements only the pain and the crashes and the quality going down....

    Hi Dan,

    Sorry about the quality of the on device version of Enhance Speech. You may want to check out Adobe Podcast (online) and see if that version of Enhance Speech is better. It harnesses more power from servers to do the processing. I have pretty good luck doing that instead if Enhance Speech is not performing as expected in Premiere Pro. Let me know if that helps.

    WOW, I thought I was the only one who noticed that all of a sudden that a quality drop in Adobe's Enhance Speech.

    It's been a while since I used Premeire Pro but I have to agree that the Enhance Speech option sounds terrible, no matter how I tweak it. The voice sound warbly and the tone keeps shifting. Not sure what, if anything, can be done about it but I thought I'd mention it here.

    My issue turned out to be a weird incompatibility with my Bose headphones.
    Listening to the enhanced file through other speakers worked fine.

    I agree- Adobe enhance speech was great few months ago and now does a very poor job making voice loud but very buggy and weird. What happened?

    I have a premium subscription to Adobe AI speech enhancer. It has been working great, but recently the enhanced audio is worse than the original, adding a distracting warble to the audio. I have been using the same microphone in all recordings in the same space, but now with different result. I have tried to see if the % enhancement can be adjusted to see if it makes any difference, but dragging the % enhancement bar to change the value always reverts to the same 90% enhancement. I am currently having to post my podcast without enhancement - quite frustrating.

      We haven't made any changes to Enhance Speech recently. If you're willing to send me a sample, I will forward to our research team to look into it.

      August 2024 - same issue still unresolved. A weird warble is now introduced into my "enhanced" recording, making it worse than the raw recording.

        Yes! That's what brought me to this area looking for Adobe support. I, too, was blown away by the ability to upload my spoken audio files and almost instantly make them broadcast quality. I have changed nothing in the way I record my audio (weekly church sermons), but all of a sudden, back in December, it started garbling my audio so that I can't even use it now. Something changed on Adobe's end for the worse. Anybody from Adobe out there...? Please bring back the previous version. It was wonderful and had become a tool I loved and relied upon.
